I know he goes by the "Gentlemac" handle on the noppen-test forum, if that helps.

From Spinlord;

The Hai is a new lp rubber for playing close to the table (chop blocks, active and passive blocks, lifting the ball, counter-attacking).

It is one of the most dangerous rubbers on the market - many strokes like chop-blocks can be played with even more disruptive effect than with the Dornenglan, only for passive blocks it is a bit weaker.

On the other hand, the Hai is not as easy to control as some of SpinLord's other rubbers.

Many reports indicate that players need at least 3 practice sessions to fully understand how to play the Hai. Compared to a rubber like Dornenglanz III, which is very easy to master out of the box, there is a big difference in this regard.

The Hai is faster than the Blitzschlag, but a bit slower than the Dornenglanz. The tops of the pimples are flat and sticky, similar to Dornenglanz. The pimples are very large and also very long. The Hai is a bit harder than the Dornenglanz, but not as hard as the Sternenfall.

For the classic undercut defense the Hai is rather weak. It is possible, but only in emergency situations, not to win a game.

So the Hai is not an allround rubber like the Blitzschlag, it is a rubber with clear strengths and weaknesses.

All in all the Hai is clearly a rubber for advanced players who prefer a modern style of defense.

This rubber is only sold in ox red and black.

By the way Hai is the German word for shark :-)

Durability of the pimples: Slightly above average
Pimple tops: Flat and sticky
Shape of the pimples: Straight

This looks really promising for a more durable alternative to Dornenglanz! Got a sheet of Bomb Talent ready to try, but wondering if anyone else here had tried the Hai yet?

Hi,
I used to play with Dornenglanz for about 2 or 3 years (then switched to Spectre which is a different story).
I also tried out the pretty shark and it's nice. It feels a lot harder than DG and more direct which allows much easier attacking (shots etc.). It still feels a little DG-ish and has nice disruption. Opponents often misjudge incoming spin or have problems with proper timing.
To me the Hai is like a perfect mix of Dornenglanz and Sternenfall (which is currently my main rubber and fav lp)
Sternenfall is just easier to play with even less spin sensitivity and better attack options (but also less disturbing compared to Hai)
I'd say: the description by Spinlord/ttdd (as posted above) is quite appropriate.
I hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions.
Regards
Holger

Great! Thank you for your thoughts! What do you think about the durability of Hai and Sternenfall (Pro?) compared to Dornenglanz, in your experience?

I had to buy a new DG every 2 or 3 month (some endured longer some shorter).
I have been playing with my current and first Sternenfall since may now. Everything fine all pips in place etc.
I have not played enough time with my Hai (only occasionally used it) so I can't really judge its durability.
According from what I've heard from others I still think it has an improved durability compared to DG.
I play quite aggressive with the pips.
Regarding durability I think Sternenfall is king followed by Hai and we all know about the DG...

Hai is definitely cut in the same mold as DG but it is slower, more controlled, has less spin reversal and minimal deception. I have played with Hai for 10 hours per week for 3 months and have had no issues with broken pips. Ultimately I went back to Leviathan 1A because Hai was too easy for my opponents. Hai is a more durable version of DG but you trade off spin reversal and deception.
