Lonnie - what blade did you try this on? On a quicker blade I agree this does not behave like Insider but on my very slow barricade I suddenly get all the control back again and I could switch to this without any real thought or change in tactic.

I tried it on Dr N Bulldozer. I played with it again this morning and seemed to have more success. I'll try it on other blades also. Since it was so cheap I ordered 6 sheets.

I tried the Palio this week but didn't like it nearly as much as Insider
I played against a strong looper and had trouble keeping the ball from flying off the table.

We played at teams last year. hope to see you again this year.

Did you use LP or Anti last year?

It is something you have to work with. I think the fact I put this on such a slow blade made the difference seem a lot less. I haven't had a knock with this on a faster set up. But it definately is a good alternative to Insider - better, I think, than the current anti generation but maybe not when the new Dr N ones are out (which I will resist buying of course!)

I'm not going this year. I'm playing in a tennis tournament in Palm Springs at that time. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to play the Nationals in Vegas

Butterfly has a new LP coming out called "Magnitude." Don't know anything about it except that Richard McAfee is already using it. McAfee is an at-the-table blocker who is rated at near 2300 even though he's pushing 60 and can barely walk so this might be an interesting rubber. It's included on List 29B. Anyone heard anything about it?

One of us is confused. Butterfly magnitude was one of the first medium pips ever, came out like 20 years ago. I think this is the same stuff. Used by top u.s. female chopper In Sook Na/Bhushan for years. Richard has been using frictionless before the rule change, I've seen video that makes it very clear. The listing of him as using magnitude goes back to before the friction rule. Either he used magnitude before hallmark or dr N frictionless or it's purely butterfly listing a sponsored player using their rubber on both sides no matter what the facts are.

So am I .

I know I am responding to a 2008 post but if you look at the latest LARC, there are two Magnitude , one with an approval code of 14-040 and other with no approval code. On the LARC, it is also not classified as a long pips rubber but as Pips Out
This confuses me even more, because Butterfly was used on the backhand by former World #1 & 1985 World Women's finalist Geng Lijuan of China (now in Canada).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geng_Lijuan

So what is new version in 2008 ? Especially given that 2008 was Doomsday-2 for table-tennis,courtesy Eberhard Scholer

Oddly, South Korea Born, 11 time US Champion two-winged chopper InSook Na (Bhushan) used Magnitude on the forehand with Tackiness Chop on the backhand.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insook_Bhushan

Magnitude is a fantastic all around rubber. It had an interesting design. There is a small conical pip that sits on top of a larger conical pip. (Reminds me of Bamboo Slash Pips , outlawed long ago and had the top of the pip slanted in one direction).

Magnitude is approved but cannot buy it anywhere
