I'm really impressed by your shots Chris. I didn't realise it was even possible to reliably hit balls (using OX semi-frictionless) that had were loaded with topspin. The whole concept of using the resulting underspin to give the ball direction- meaning it can also have speed, is new to me. There will be less margin- because the ball will try to loop up rather than down, but wow what a shot to be mixing into a game.

Thanks for posting the vids.

PS In your vid of Peter v Gareth, a couple of Gareth's serves are just sensational.

Thanks :D

I'm getting there with the shot but I am still quite inconsistent....some days they go on and some they do not. However what I have noticed is to get the shot on effectively, you have to play it with speed. This of course raises the chances of missing the table altogether, however when it goes on it just doesn't come back!

I'm toying with the idea of trying out the sponged version of Bomb Talent if I'm still struggling with this shot after a few more months. As I'm moving away from the blocking game and into a style where I like to hit, I just wonder if a bit of sponge would help that.

Regarding Gareth's serves, yes, he is very good indeed! In fact when he was playing in the England team, the Table Tennis press said he had one of the best serves in Europe! I can spend a whole hour with him serving and I hardly get any back :lol:

More speed = less curve. I've also noticed the spin is different when you hit harder, though I haven't figured out what's going on yet. Anyone know?

Reversal should increase as you hit harder, but of course there is less time for gravity to bring the ball down, so it still gets harder to land the ball.

Even though this topic hasn't been touched since 2009... and I haven't been on OOAK for...about 2 years...

I was looking for a long pimple that had heaps of reversal, the ability to attack but also to have decent control. I've used 755 (only good for attacking..) Neptune (alright...deceptive but not heaps of reversal) and Palio CK531A (lots of reversal but too fast! uncontrollable for hits sometimes...)

SO I came to OOAK (usually on MyTT as Totoro) as the Long pimple sanctuary...lol

I AM DEFINITELY going to try Bomb Talent. The rave reviews have made my mouth-water. Going to buy one from OOAK itself in a few days...although the review on the product page isn't as attractive as this thread haha...

Hope I get something that is like what the stories tell of!

Thanks :up:

I'm going to order the Bomb Talent, from AliExpress or Eacheng, and I noticed that there seem to be 2 variants/packaging, and even the pricing is different..

http://www.eacheng.net/BOMB-Talent-Econ ... 10989.html

http://www.eacheng.net/Bomb-Talent-Standard-p10979.html

Whats the difference between the two ?, and which one would be better-suited (also ox or thin .05mm sponge) on a Defplay Senso V3.. I play a mix between defender (but not very far from the table), and blocker... I block passively, and also chop over-the-table..

Read the product description at your first link. It says 2 different packages are used but the rubber is the same.

Yes, I did read that, before posting here.. but then, why does one packaging, cost more than the other one ? am I missing something ?

You're missing something. But so am I... :lol: Here's the two versions (disclaimer - these are probably NOT the best prices from the seven Eacheng stores.. do a search):

The "Big Moon" "Tension" version:

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/produc ... 76244.html

Image

Image

The "Economical" version:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bomb-Ta ... 57173.html

Image

(You can see the "two versions" of the cover here.)

Image

And, it turns out, the "Economical" version also has "Tension"... :lol:

There is also an OX version here! This is actually MORE expensive than either sponged version. And there is an ITTF stamp.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bomb-Ta ... 45837.html

Image

Differences I can see (based on what's written on the back)

"big moon"

Speed: 70 Spin: 60 Control: 75 Elasticity + Inner Power +++ Anti Aging ++
Thickness: <=1.3mm. Hardness 40-45.

"economical"

Speed: 70 Spin: 60 Control: 70 Elasticity ++ Inner Power ++ Anti Aging ++
Thickness: 0.5-1.5mm. Hardness 40-45.

In both cases, you aren't allowed to choose thickness OR hardness. You get whatever comes, which is random.. :lol:

So I guess if you want a little extra control AND a little more Inner Power, and you don't care about the decreased Elasticity, you'd pay the extra three bucks.. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yep, the prices on some stores @ AliExpress are cheaper than on eacheng.net ... I'll probably order via AliExpress, cause it's tried n tested.. I've never ordered from eacheng.net

I'm looking for the differences, from a practical playability point of view, and not just the manufacturer's spiel.. ... Has anyone actually played with both variants, and if so, what're the differences, in practical game-play..

Also, which variant is the most widely used one, and which one is being discussed by everyone, on this thread ?

...Another odd thing I noticed on AliExpress is that none of the listings (irrespective of the seller), of the OX version, displayed any image of packaging ...

There's a significant amount of stuff that's sold without ANY packaging other than, perhaps, a clear plastic bag. Probably didn't leave the manufacturer through "normal channels". Look up "729 FX with large pore sponge" for instance.

Hello again , i was able to test Bomb Talent ox , compared with Dornenglanz it have much more control and is the same in terms of disturbing effect!!!! It was better than Dornenglanz on empty balls. Chop-Block was verry good and is loaded with much rotation and short over the net! Also the passive block was very good, short and zig zag traiectory. Thanks to Geblock tt who inspired me to use this pimple. No susceptibility to incoming cuts and verry good on medium fast topspin !!! My blade is a cheap , stiff and hard combi wood with carbon fiber and cork plies on long pimple side, it pair well with Bomb Talent!!!!I think this is my new weapon on plastic balls!

There seem to be 2 versions of this LP ... each with a different packaging... Which one did you test ?
