Used black DTECS OX 3 times now. Compared with my friction DrN Monster, right from the off, much easier to chop back from the table (the extra speed helps, also the spin generated). Also much easier, for me, to attack with; I dont punch but use a hardbat like BH flick/drive and percentage-wise lot more successful hits, although not quite as flat and difficult for opponent to return. Blocking reasonably easy to adapt with a closed face, but the odd one going long - think thats old habits of a more open face creeping back or it may be the unpredicatability talked about.
Only two negatives so far! The lack of full disturbance when balls pushed long into opponents backhand allows a more comfortable game for them which leads to having to play a more active game myself especially on return of serve where a floted ball is now being punished by good players. So much more active returns are needed (backhand flicks where possible to short ball etc) and I'm shattered by end of each game as the rallies seem longer!
All in all, a balanced changover, some pluses to balance out the minus's. Hope when Tachi arrives to replace my DrN High Tech blade that the easier attacking abilities of this rubber dont disappear with the extra dampening. Any thoughts on this from players who have switched (or tried Tachi) from a faster blade?
