I would like to try out a SP rubber for my backhand.

I have not played since 1990, and I read that a lot has happened since my 1988 Sriver on both sides was ok.

I play without a lot of spin, tend to stand close to the table, and have a quick backhand straight wrist smash.

Forehand is also played without lot of spin, but can do it with a bit of topspin.

Need one tacky inverted, since I serve with a lot of spin.

I am now starting up playing again, but is of course 25 years slower in reaction, so maybe SP will be something to try out?

What rubber should I try out, to see if this is simething for me?

Not sure that SP is going to forgive slower reactions - if anything on your SP side you'll be closer to the table and taking the ball earlier. However, if you want to try, a common recommendation is 802-40. It's cheap, has plenty of spin, and is widely considered to be one of the easiest SPs for inverted players to try.

Thanks for that suggestion Lord!

Do all agree, or have others different experience or suggestions?

Then I have bought 1 sheet 802-40 and 1 sheet Pimple Mini, 2 planks and 2 Friendship rubbers for forehand.

Just for testing puposes, to see if It suites me to play with pip out rubber!

That would be blades I assume?

Sorry, I did not see this topic till now. Yes that sounds like a very sensible way to start... at least to find out what suits you.

Let us know how you go?

+1

Yeah. I am no expert on SP, but I think they need the fastest reflexes of all.
