Welcome Luke!

Ping Pong and Table Tennis are really the same sport, but usually people refer to table tennis as the more serious competitive sport, while ping ping is the more social/recreational game of the sport. I hope that makes sense?

Hey, Luke welcome from also a very new member here. It's a great sport that can improve your fitness, reflexes, and coordination. Table tennis and ping pong are basically the same game, but table tennis is the official name used by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and in competitions. Ping pong is a more casual term that some people use to refer to the game. There are some minor differences in rules and equipment, but they are not very significant. You can learn more about them here https://pingpongacademy.org/ping-pong-vs-table-tennis/.

Hi, my name is Richard from Singapore, 67 yo. I hv been playing on and off for many yrs. At the beginning of this yr, I joined a group of seniors and was losing badly. I decided to take it seriously n engaged a coach for 6 months. Now I am enjoying the game better.
We hv very few TT clubs here, but there are tables available for rent in my housing estate.
I am also an equipment junky (sight!), I like to try different blades n rubbers. I play shake hand, right handed. I like to play offensive, flat drive, topsin, loops.
I like to play fast or so what my mind tells me, but my body think otherwise.
My latest blade is a Kokutaku Kyoto, 7 cypress, Donic Bluefire M1 FH n Loki Rxton 3 BH.
Currently I am not working, so I can play 4-5 times a week. Sometimes alone with my robot n rebounding board.
I hope I can learn more from this site.
Richard

Hi Richard. Welcome!
I used to go to Singapore yearly for 4-5 years a few years back. Every time I went there I visited TT clubs, I went to 4-5 different ones all over the cities. The ones I can remember are at Braddell Heights, Tiong Bahru, and Yishun.

Yes. This is the void deck or open space below the flats (houses). The sides are blocked n it houses 8 tables. Anybody can walk in n play, no need for booking. No fees to pay. Standard varies from beginner to advanced.
You simply approach someone you like to play with n ask them to play.

Hi,

My name is Ed and been reading this forum on an off since about 2009!

Guess this is more of a re-intro…. Back after a 5 year break!
Playing on and off since the 1980 in college.
CPEN
Stiga Clipper CR
FH - TSP Spectol Blue 1.5mm
BH - Winning NP-Grass LP (OX) - 2nd attempt to try LP.

Hitting 60 soon so decided to try LP on the BH. Not so sure that i can be as fast as before.
Had a cheap Chinese rubber on BH before for RPB. Was playing in a league 5 years ago and took the Short Pimple CPEN style to a mid 1800 level rating. Learned a ton of things reading all the info in this wonderful forum. Looking forward to continuing the this journey with everyone here!

BTW my wife thinks I’m crazy as I’ve been practicing twiddling for the last couple of weeks while watching TV :)

Only played 3 times so far since coming back but looking to get some more practice in and hopefully learn some new things.

Regards

Ed

Hello everybody, I’m new, then I want to thank you for holding this nice community. I found a lot of incredible information past days here then I decided to join. My name is Diego, I’m originally from Colombia, living in Germany since 2 years. I play table tennis since I was 11 years old (now I’m 33), always competing in Colombia in regional levels.

I started to play with OX Long Pips when I was 13. I’ve been always so inspired for those players who use this rubber close to the table being aggressive with it, not just defending. And also making some troubles twiddling the racket 8)

I arrived 9 years ago to Spain and there I was helping in a club teaching table tennis for kids and also getting the possibility to compete once in the lower regional category of Catalonia. Next year I want to start to compete in regional league in Germany and I’m full of questions about it.

Looking forward to learn a lot from you
