I'll also be at the Badger Open. Doug, I'll be getting my registration in online later this week. Hope we can hit a few to get a good warmup! And Teddy, I look forward to meeting you at the tournament! If you're looking for LP players to have a hit with, I'd love to hit with you. And if I didn't already have a partner for the U-3800 doubles, I could have teamed up with you.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you both at the Badger Open. I will be entered in the U-2000 (and maybe the U-2300) on Saturday, and the U-3800 doubles and Over 40 events on Sunday. My son Brian and I will probably be there Friday night to hit a bit.

nice to see you will be there Jim. I just signed up for 2200 so I guess I can't play doubles. We will have to have a hit. I'm pretty sure you guys are both above my skill level so it will be nice to hit with both of you.

Great to hear Jim! Who are you going to be playing doubles with? It's too bad you and I were just above the 3800 rating limit. I was hoping it would be U-4000, but the decision was 3800.

Hi Doug--yeah, it was too bad that we couldn't play together. This year, I will be playing with my buddy, Long Le. Imagine--after over 10 years of playing together at our club, this is the first time that we will be teaming up together. It will be interesting to see what kind of a team we make. See you at the Badger!

Long is a very good player, I bet that you guys will do very well! You going to be making it down for any practice sessions before the tournament?

Player list for the Badger Open is now available. If you haven't gotten your entry form in, it's not too late! Just go to the website for online entry!

http://www.badgeropen.com
http://www.shorewoodttc.org

It's pretty exciting, we have almost 200 players already, and 9 players rated over 2500, including the reigning US Open champion Zhen Wang, who is also the 2-time defending Badger Open champion!

JimWeiland, it looks like having money in the Over-40 has brought in a lot of good players into the event. You and I are going to have a really tough time getting through the brackets in that one.

Hey, Doug, I noticed that two of the guys entered in the O-40 are also playing in the U-2200 (Avery, Bradley), which is at the same starting time. I thought we weren't allowed to enter two events at the same time? If we are allowed to enter, then I want to talk to Mike B. about getting in on the U-2200.

But yeah, we are definitely going to have to play our best table tennis to get anywhere close to the finals. In any event, it will be fun.

Jim, do you mean the U-2400? That's at 1, like the Over-40. The U-2200 is at 2:30. I entered the Over-40 and U-2200.

I just hope to win some matches. Ever since the team tournament in May, I've been losing a TON of matches 3-2. Lost three more in Shorewood on Wednesday after losing 3-2 at Spin a couple of weeks ago. It's really getting to be mental right now. The games I win, I'm playing the best I've ever played and blowing out good players. But the games I lose are all close and in all of them I make silly mistakes, like missing easy pushes or missing smashes. I used to be good in those situations and now I'm really starting to doubt myself. I hope that turns around at the Badger. I'll be one of the top seeds in U-1900 and I'm expecting myself to make a very deep run, and hopefully win the event.

Hey guys,
It's Mike B. with the Badger Open staff. Just wanted to chime in and say that we have about 215 players registered so far including about 20 players over USATT rating 2300 so it's shaping up to be the most competitive Badger Open field ever. Just a note to anyone that hasn't yet registered, we've extended the entry deadline (for online registration) to Sunday at midnight (CST), so there's still time to get your entry in: http://www.badgeropen.com

Also, during the tournament I will be posting updates on our website every couple of hours, and hopefully some YouTube clips each night as well.

Badger Open starts today! We have over 200 players entered, by the time we have walk-in sign-ups for the recreational tournament, we're expecting about 250 players, which I think would make this the largest tournament in the U.S., outside of the U.S. Open and Nationals. It's going to be two days of fun competition, I'm hoping to finally break through with a lot of wins after a few months of nothing but very close losses.

Congratulations to all who run and participate in this fine tournament!

*To be accurate, we had 303 players at our 2012 LA Open and we had to turn back additional entries one week before the starting date.
