I was wondering what kind of formula they follow in the high level ITTF competitions. Are they just direct eliminations ("tree-shaped") all the way through, or is there some sort of poule (round robin?) system going on as well?

What does Round 1/2/3/Main round signify?
Also, how do people get ranking points? I think I figured out that in Sweden, you get ranking points for beating players rather than getting a good placement. Is it the same internationally?
