Thor Truelson (USA) took Consolation gold in MS 40. Way to go, Thor!

He got a bit unlucky with seeding - two very good players were in the same group as him: Sergey Saveliev of Russia who went to top 8, and Australia's Seref Bakanay (he beat Thor 3-2 in a rather close match; Seref got unlucky himself by being placed too close to Peter Karlsson in the SE round).

I saw Kunz play in the mid 70s when he toured here with Orlowski and the Czech team. He used SP then and was a fantastic blocker. At one stage he was ranked 15 in the world. Didnt know he uses LP now and that he plays for Germany.

I used to play pennant against Igor back in the 70s - he always had lovely touch and ball control..

Also, an Australian pair won the womens 75-79 doubles. One plays pennant at Coburg and uses LP. The other uses anti and often drops in to my monday coaching group. They are both very tough competitors and I know they will be thrilled.

He was very sick for some reason, I spent a lot of time at the Neabauer stand and I asked his son Carlson? for a deal on the new No1 rubber ( I told him Ill post my findings on OOKT, which Ill do later any how I had him put it on and just used it with no warm up and we won our next 4 doubles matches in a row, I didn't try hitting as I found I could keep pushes and low and my chops had backspin as
most opposition never return them lol

well he did the right thing and went to bed early, Craig Dye went out to 2 am and didn't play as good as he could have

Bill U from San Diego is playing, he is over 70, been practicing with me for the past few weeks. A steady patient player, 563 medium pips and smooth, can twiddle and attack with both sides.

I still can't believe he travel all the way to New Zealand to play this world senior games.

We spent 6 hours packing up, hard work and plenty to take out of the venue which had to be cleared the same night
the World wide officials said it was the first time this event has event run to time

Congratulations to New Zealand for doing a great job with regards to posting the results in such an efficient manner. It's like the results are instantly on the website after the match!

Compare that to TTV, wherein we are still waiting for the Dandenong Veterans results held 2 months ago!

Well done Aussies for winning the Over 70 Men's Doubles (Igor Klaf and Inh Van Le) and Over 75 Women's Doubles (Pam Tait and Margaret Mulcahey) & Over 70 Men's Singles (Inh Van Le).
