well im not amazing at it but i can hit when i have a good chance or a slower ball. for e.g if someone hits a serve right to the left of my backhand how can i rpb if my arm is on the stretch? also when playing matches and they hit towards my body but to the backhand how would i rpb it as i dont have godspeed footwork so how would i rpb it say if the ball was a bit to the right of my heart.
im having major problems when they may hit it hard to my left hand side after hitting a forehand and stretching to hit my rpb as i dont feel ready as my arm is then stretched and everything.
thanks

You can get away with poor footwork with a traditional PH BH but you can't with an RPB. With an RPB you really need to force yourself to contact the ball in front of your belly-button all the time. If the ball goes to your right and you don't move into position you will usually miss the table to your right. If the ball goes wide to your left it is possible to stretch and play a shot but such a shot is fundamentally unsound and should be used for emergencies only.
Practice staying on your toes at all times and aim always hit the ball in front of your belly-button. If the ball goes wide to your left or your right then your first reaction should be to move into position and NOT to reach for the ball. This sort of play doesnt require spectacular footwork. Rather it is largely a matter of getting into good habits through training.
