wondering how much you sand you blade to make it comfortable.

Honestly, as much as you want. This is a highly personal thing. If you have a cheap walmart/other department store racket, you can test things out.

Sanding the handle area won't really change actual performance.

Keep in mind that if you twiddle, making the handle asymmetrical could be bothersome.

Hope that helps :) (Also hope others chime in with more specifics)

Oh, and if you take a little much off, you can always wrap the handle in something. I have less experience in this area...plenty of good advice to be had here at the forum though!

This is very much a penholder thing. The interesting thing was the two 729 SHAKEHAND blades I bought came from the factory with the corners rounded off on either side of the handle, on one side of the blade. This had me puzzled until I figured out it's for penholders - they apparently subject ALL blades to this, even the shakehand blades.
