Thanks for the info. I'd really like to see some video on Classe. I'm partial to fellow "backhand players."

Did you see what blade and LP Classe uses?

Magoo was kind of a cross between Fabian and Classe and had more of a chop-block technique which he executed with extremely good timing. He also used the FH a lot more than Classe but not as much as Fabian, IMO opinion Magoo is definitely a better player than Classe and should be considered as the second best LP blocker in Sweden. His blade was a Persson Power Allround, didn't catch what LP he used but that is something I can find out if someone is interested as I have a friend who knows him quite well.

I saw him at a competition in september, he beat Per Svensson (a very experienced and good player, about 55 years old, who I think is somewhere in the top of Sweden's national table tennis organisation) in three straight games. Per was very upset, he called the superior judge because he thougt Markus (his real name) lp had been manipulated in some way. I talked to him after the match and he said it was some kind of Phantom lp (if I remember correctly) but he said it was more like a non friction at some strokes and had some grip at other strokes (perhaps different less grip on top of the pips). He also said he had nothing against non friction pips, but it is difficult to play against such pips if you are not prepared and have been practising against them, and since they are not allowed he hadn't been doing that. He thougt it would be better to get rid of the friction rule and then everybody could be prepared for that kind of rubber - it would be more fair. I agree, and I need to state out that I have no opinion about Markus equipment myself and I may remember incorrect. But I can assure you he played really good and fast.

Well, at least let us know what setup you used, and if you changed it between the matches? If someone would hve been filming your game, you would have been more focused ;)

I don't know why but I was not motivated at all and I also had (still have) a cold which almost made me throw in the towel before the tournament. I had fever the day before too.

I used Donic Defplay with Calibra LT max and SpinLord Zeitgeist OX.

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this in. But I spoke to Fabian last week and he said he has started answering the questions you've asked. I wouldn't hold your breth but he should get it done eventually!

Looks like he's back to Akkadi, it also looks like he switched to Persson Powerspeed instead of Powerplay.

Yes I do hope he'll get around to answering the questions... I don't like to keep pushing him as we asked a LOT of questions, and I'm sure he's a busy guy.

Tomorrow is the first round of the Swedish Pingisliga (highest league) and it will be very interesting to see how Åkerström performs this year. Last year he had a 8-15 win/loss ratio and that is not good progress for a guy that had a 13-8 ratio 4-5 years ago in the same league. I know he's been having some trouble with the material but this year he needs to step it up and I hope to see the first sign of that tomorrow. I'll update with results.

Can't wait to read about it :)
Will u be there ? If yes, maybe try to find out what LP he's using ?
My good friend, Espen Rönneberg, Norways nr 2 in senior, is off to play in Sweden in the same round. His team is Markaryds BTK.
They are up against Spårvägen in the first match :)

He is an awesome player. Really rare style and he used it effectively.
The FLP ban really make his style effectiveness drop. Too bad :\

Go check his epic blocks before the ban (he is using Hallmark Original OX)
