There used to be a video of him against Rosskopf where he would get impossible balls back and won... I like to watch Chtchetinine!! Impressive chopping skills..

In the video from the last link posted there is a bit of a close on his blade. At 1:15 or a little after you can see a little plastic banner similar to the ones that are on the handles of the butterfly mats pro, def alpha, and def II. Can any confirm if it is one of these blades or maybe another recognizable one? Am I just seeing things? :P

It could be a defense alpha, beause I have it and by the size and the banner, it could be.

Greetings

according to a russian language website, he is using Butterfly Defence II, but I can't really read russian.. It just had the Blade name and rubber names under his name and that was from a article from 2008

During the off-season, tt-total.tv is showing some old matches. Today they had some Chtchetinine matches, including one with Timo Boll.

I really like his style of play. It is basically just like mine: Chopping on both wings and then attacking on the forehand whenever possible. But I thought that was the description of a modern defender, not a classical one. I thought a classical defender only chopped on both wings.

So I guess I need to ask: What is the difference?

He attacks a few times. A moder defender usually attacks more often, serving included.

mynamenotbob put 2 videos about him, but there are 3 videos about a russian defender (female). She has an interesting style in her forehand:

In the first match against Baum he attacks quite often. So I guess there is little difference between the classical defender and the modern. Just a vague line of one attacking more often than the other.

Well then I guess I am a classical defender. :)

I have the Defence II. What is the difference to Defence alpha? Bigger headsize but same material?

I have 2 defence alpha (two rackets :D), and I had the matsushita pro. Defence is slower than matsushita, and bigger also. I haven't tryed defence II.
