Fred got a couple of new rubbers yesterday, so being as I was looking for something to do, I made a vid showing how I make up a bat. I know most of you will be pretty good at this sort of thing, but for anyone who is looking for a rough guide then this could be useful.

Just before 6 mins, it also shows a method I have been using for a while to help prevent damage and rubbers flaking at the edges. Particularly useful when a 7 year old will be using the bat.

Good video! That's very similar to the way I do it.

What's with the peeling off of the glue on the edge of the rubber when you finish? Where does that come from?

You use a lot more glue than I do JKC - I probably only use 1/4 or less of what you use. When I use as much as you have I tend to see streaks/ high points through the rubber, I think I can see this on the black rubber you glue here. And because I use less it dries in just a minute or two, almost as convenient as the old VoC glue (and being a cheapskate too my glue lasts longer!).

The other hint I'd add for beginners is that you can use a hairdryer to speed drying time if you're in a hurry.

I like your idea of dabbing some glue around the edges, I've done this before on my leading edge but usually only to halt damage that has already started.

Ahhh that where the excess glue came from

Yes that glue looks very thick, and you do put a lot on. I guess it's not going to come off easily ;)

I probably did put a little more on than normal as I normally do the blade first so more soaks into the sponge leaving less on the blade. I then usually end up with more on the rubber.

The stiga glue is quite thick though so the white shows up more than with thinner glues.

Gret video, JKC. I usually don't cut my own rubbers but now I know how to... My TT supplier uses a kind of grinding wheel to fit my rubbers to the blade.
