I have a friend who is using ProTop carbon blade (off) with RITC 2000 Tackspeed (Japanese sponge) on FH and RITC 729 FX on BH.
Anybody knows this ProTop?
I want to give him a new blade as a surprise gift, and I suppose I should give him an offensive carbon blade. I don't want to buy from the internet as it is much more expensive compared to my local retailer, so I want to buy only Butterfly blade. I am thinking about Gergely or Primorac Carbon. Which one is better ? Are there cheaper alternatives from Butterfly ? Thanks

I took the one weighing 91 grams and return the rest to my local retailer who has been so nice in letting me take home 4 blades (I did not ask for it, it was him who told me to bring them home to choose one, and he has totally 5, so when I took home 4 pcs, he has only 1 at the shop). It was really a great temptation for me to take the 82 grams for myself, but somehow I managed to resist it.

What was your reason in getting the 91g over the 82g?

The purpose of buying this blade is for a surprise gift for my friend, so I try to find out his preference. He is using carbon blade and he likes heavy blade. I can't get more detailed information because he does not live in the same town with me and I met him maybe once a year for a few minutes, and I never play with him.
As for the 82 grams, because I see that the blades are very nice, I was tempted to take one for myself (using it penhold style, and I always go for light blade).
Anyhow I am sad because no one gave any comment to my first post. The first reply came because Silver was attracted by the beauties' pics that I posted. :(

Blade: Donic Persson Power Play
FH: Donic Bluestorm Z3
BH: Tibhar Aurus Soft
Sorry aeoliah, I was busy the last 24 hours getting my ass kicked 12 hrs and sleeping it off (12 hrs). I like a heavy blade myself, it just feels nice when hitting the ball. I am, however, backing off using carbon for now.

Sorry, I'd help you out with choosing, except I don't know much about carbon blades, nor do I know much about shakehand blades. Actually, considering that, it's probably better that I kept my mouth shut.

Tried asking how heavy his setup was? Or you're keeping the present a secret? :P

Gee, I like that Tibhar Samsonov Carbon which Vali mentioned a while ago...it's not a BTY, reasonably cheap... :P

Yuzuki,
I did not tell him that I am sending a blade as a gift because I am afraid that he will refuse. I asked him for the weight, but he said that he never weighed his blade, I guess he does not have a digital scale.
I chose Butterfly because here it is considered as prestigious brand.

Actually he is not a real friend. When we were kids I used to stay in his house (different town) for about a week during school holiday, and he did the same. His parents and mine were good friends and we know every member of the family well, and later one of my family member got married with one of his family member. Then we did not communicate for many years as he went abroad for study. After that we met him only occasionally, maybe once a year. I got to know that he played TT when we both have kids already.

I think I will buy the other Gergely weighing 82 grams for my collection. I like the workmanship, the colour of the handle etc, which is too great a temptation for me. It would cost me USD.50,-
