Hi guys

I'm an intermediate player. I'd like to change my blade to more offensive; previously I was using Stiga all around. I need a blade with the good speed and control, excellent for forehand topspins, as well as still maintain good control. Any suggestions?

P.S. I've found Waldner Black devil, but I'm not sure that it's a good blade for topspin.

Blade: Stiga Cybershape Carbon
FH: Butterfly Tenergy 19 2.1
BH: Dr Neubauer ABS3 1.5
When I transitioned from a more allround blade, I went to the 729 Bomb and it suited me very well. More than enough power, still fairly light, and with good control.

729 Bomb is still only in the lower end of OFF. Perhaps a balsa blade might be nice, since they can slow things down if necessary, but are quite fast as well when you put power into your stroke. Juic makes some nice ones, I believe.

you should figure out first if you want a flexible blade or a hard blade... some people prefer the touch of hard blades.. other people prefer the feel of flexible blades..

I suggest moving to carbon. Butterfly Primo Vitesse.
Really good blade to and it's very cheap! I would say the same speed to a clipper CR but without the vibration

You might be better served if you know what you want from your blade, like do you want it to flex for loops, or do you want it to be stiff for drives, or do you want a hard or soft feel, or do you want a heavy or light blade, or do you need carbon or texalium, or do you need all wood, and how much $$$ is your allotted budget for this mission.

Having said that, a real inexpensive wood blade with a good rep for looping is the Galaxy 896 at $22. There are a ton of more stiff ones from Galaxy that will do the OFF job, both wood and composite. That is just Galaxy, which is probably the best value in blades. I got the 896 on the specs and everyone's positive reviews for what it does - loop - and got it coming on the way myself. Haggisv can select a certain weight out of his inventory if you need the weight slightly different.

Whatever you ultimately get and use, let everyone know and have a stab at an equipment review. Who knows, you might discover you are a better review writer than the propaganda macines at the TT equipment companies!

Some great reconmmendation above already. The Black devil is a carbon blade, which are not ideally suited for those that want heavy topspin and the best control. I'm sure it's a nice blade thought, and some other carbon blades (eg speedaply's wavestone  ) will still be very nice for looping with the right choice of rubber.

A wooden blade is more likely to offer this, especially one with more flex.

What rubbers are you planning to use with the blade? The choice of rubber makes a big difference in what blade you should use...

After playing several blades now. I don't know if I would ever recommend another straight Carbon blade again (actually there is one). Kevlar, yes. K-4, and K-6 are both great. Arylate, yes. I really liked the Wavestone suggestion. If you want to try Aramid Carbon the Stradivarius is my pick. If you want to feel a rare Carbon that is actually carbon and feels pretty wood like the W-1 is the best suggestion for a Carbon blade I would ever recommend. Other than that I can't think of a Carbon blade I would suggest. Most of them just feel too stiff. They are really hard to loop with for me anyway.

I love my Butterfly Viscaria for powerful looping. The Kong Linghui Special from Butterfly is very nice, very much like the Viscaria but a little slower. The Michael Maze similar but a little slower still. All of these have arylate. Basically, I like soft but fast blades for looping, and don;t like the glassy feel of most straight carbon blades I used to use a VMax from Schildkrott which was quite nice, but they aren't available in the US anymore. Ditto the old Butterfly Keyshot, which was a beautiful blade, widely used by many world class loopers, and still to be found in Taiwan I am told. (By the way, the new Keyshot Light does not play anything like the old Keyshot). Butterfly blades are expensive but consistent -- buy two and they are more likely to be quite similar than many other manufacturers.

Wow

it's very rare for me to be giving advice on this site (I am usually the solicitor) but I think the TSP Reflex 50 is a good offensive blade that also provides good control and spin.

The Dawei Inspirit Quattro has very good consistency speed as well, in my experience.

As you can tell from my signature, that's one of my racquets.
It's probably a little bit too offensive for my taste, but if that's what you are looking for, you might consider it.

What about the Dawei Crystal Carbon King or the Dawei Maxim Power Carbon? Any thoughts on these? Can one top-spin with these close to the table? Do they have good feeling?

I was just looking at the Galaxy blades on the Australian websites and it looks like you can get everything I like in the Butterfly arylate blades for about half or a third the price. I don't know if you can get Galaxy blade in North America, but I wouldn't mind trying one.

I'd like to use Mark V gps on my backhand and Mamba for forehand.
Galaxy 896 is the great blade, but I need a little bit more power.

I have to second the Galexy W-1. Not like most carbons at all. Softer feel and no "ping" but still fast.
The construction is different than any other blade I ever tried also. The center ply is about 1/8" thick and the grain goes from blade face to blade face, like you cut a 1/8" slice off the end of a log.
The center ply does not go all the way to the handle, stops just short. Somebody said that could be a week spot but a glue joint can be stronger than the wood. Real nice blade. The flared handle is a little bigger than most which I like. With the Seemiller grip, small handles let my fingernails touch my palm. This one is just right.
I also have two MC-1. Very thin blade and still quite fast but it seems to have a smaller sweet spot. :D

I have one and I'm from Kansas City. They are high quality, and pretty consistent. I actually think their weight discrepencies are less than Butterfly. BTY still isn't even remotely close to the weight discrepencies of Stiga though. The K-4, and K-6 both play very well. I would highly recommend those two.
