No results yet, I posted last night and I just woke up. I should be able to weigh some blades today.

Update: weighed a few blades again, the ones I didn't use still had the same weight. Blades I actively used got a few grams heavier from I guess sweat and glue.

HE DONIC BURN-SERIES

The thermic treatment of the veneers makes for extremely high stability comparable to features of high-quality tropical woods. The blades are exposed to a temperature of 200 degrees centigrade for twenty four hours. This process hardens the wood and removes any humidity.

The resulting playing characteristics of these blades are therefore unique.

I have left a blade in the hotwater cupboard (had water damage and mold) the blade went from 98grams to 83 and then I sanded it , the blade looked normal after that lol

Hello sir, would you like your defplay medium rare or well done? All kidding aside, drying out blades does seem to have an effect. Blades I had in the oven feel more stable and playing characteristics do change a bit.

I am surprised about the 200 degrees though, whole testing I found this temperature too high because it caused color changes on the blades.

Blade: Garaydia ZLC
FH: Dignics 05
BH: Dignics 09C
Performance wise, how does it compare to unbaked blades?

Does it become stiffer with the reduction of moisture on the baked blade?

It's a bit hard to explain but in general it feels more stable. I think it could best be compared to having a blade you played with for 10 years and a new blade. the blades are the same but they feel different. Baking the blade instantly changes the feel of the blade.

Just a question ... What on earth makes someone think of putting a blade in an oven or a microwave in the first place?

I mean I Can see why someone would if they hear it reduces the weight ... but how did someone put it in there the first time?

LDMovies, someone just thought of evaporating the water out of it with heat. Maybe it was rained on or too sweaty.

So, do you know how to do that now? Can you do it at will to cannibalize a blade for example?

Ah, maybe it is done in the absence of oxygen.
It could be done in a partial vacuum too, which would accelerate evaporation.
Edit: Now I remember that these are not original ideas (of course). Might have been a story about Stiga, actually.

Actually, just storing blades in a vacuum should draw all of the moisture out. Even easier!

Today I checked a few donic burn blades at the local TT shop, surprisingly the blades look much worse than the ones I put in the oven. Very obvious discoloring effect and many darker burn marks especially around the edges. So I don't think there is any high-tech burning going on, just a regular put your blade in the oven for a while and see how it turns out.
