Hi all,

I'm helping a friend at the TT club sell his old M. Maze blade. He bought it at the end of 2005 and have switched to other defensive blades. He used the blade for about a year then he switched to other blades.

Image

I'll be putting the M. Maze for sale on local TT forum but am wondering about the fair price for it. So, could you guys/gals help me out by looking through the pictures of the blade and give me an estimate of the fair price for it?

Here's where you could find the rest of the pictures:

Please give your estimate in percentage (65%, 75%, etc. where 100% being a new blade) instead of $ amount.

Thank you all!!!

:)

thats a pretty well used blade. i'd say that its about 45%. so i'd say id buy it around 35$. the reason i gave it a 45% was based on 3 factors, is the blade it self any good, how beaten up, and how long its been played with. th em.maze blade is a good blade that is really fast IMO and is very much like the tbs so id say a good blade. next i'd say that its really beaten up so id give it a o.k cuz i've seen a lot worse. and finally its been played for about 1 year so its still pretty new but if it was even older then the percentage would've been higher because, the older the blade,(but has to be played with most of its life) the better the blade IMO because as the wood gets repeditly pounded with the ping pong ball, the wood gets a more............ good feel to it, thats why i like to play with my friends blade which is about 27 yrs old. :)

good luck trying to sell it

Thanks Suplazza...

Here's a bit more info:

I did play with it for 1-2 hours and it did play fine.

The bad coloring was due to he was varnishing the side of the blade with the 2 colors epoxy? The one white and black and mixed together? Something like that. But he applied too much then it wasnt drying and he took them off with some liquid like kerosene or something. That's what he said. He had some people to fix the dents and dings and varnished the blade lightly. I asked him cause it looked shiny and felt smooth. It's light seal cause some parts are faded already.

Someone suggested for me to sand down the sides of the blade to get rid of the bad coloring. Make it look a bit nicer...

You could probably charge up to 50% if you clean up the sides and surface...it looks really beat up in that state.

Not to muck up the waters, but that looks like sh!t to me. I might pay 20% ($20) for it as is, but I'd still have to think about it. Then again, I'm pretty picky about my stuff.

No worry, someone even put it at 10%... Hahaha....

Thanks guys...
I sanded the sides and it looks better now. I can see that the damage is not that bad as it initially looked. The dark colors remained somewhat but lighter now. I might try rubbing alcohol as someone at another forum suggested to try clear the coloring, or sand it a bit more with rougher sand paper (I used the smooth one, don't know what number).

I played with it again last night using the BH side as FH and still felt good (both back and front), so nothing's wrong with playability, just the make-up...

Putting side tape won't do as far as selling goes... I'll let them know what and how it is as is... The owner then could use side tape if he/she wants to.

Okay, I did a little bit of sanding. Here's the result:

http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/vie ... d=11035358

What do you think? Is it better than before?

I used smooth sandpaper so it might not be enough. It's about 98% smooth on all sides less a couple of dents. The white stuff is dust from sanding I missed it when cleaning the blade.

That/those sanding session(s) really helped with the edges, they really actually look better that be4. I think that the side dings if u have a lot of them, make ur blade look kinda........ proffessional because it looks like u practice every day or something like that. 8) I think u already know, but u should use a lower grit/rougher sand paper to sand down the edge to make the dents smaller then finish up with the finer again to polish it to give it a better look. then if u really think that the dents are a problem, then used super glue and appli it all around the edges to protect it and to prevent further chunkes of wood from falling off.

good luck :D :D

had a original keyshot long time ago that was destroyed on the side of the pendulum serve and if i hit it again, then a small piece of wood woukld come falling off, so i super glued it and it worked and helped.

rokphish, it looks somewhat better than before, but it still has dark spots at the edges, What are those the dark spots?

How's the handle? And that small area at the throat where the handle and rubber come together?

I didn't have rougher sandpaper on hand...

Those dark stuff are remainder of epoxy residue and/or the fill for dents/dings.

My 1 ply had just arrived so I'm not going to work on this blade for awhile...
