Right now, I'm using a Joola Kool. I'm thinking of buying a back up racket, that could maybe be cheaper or at least look different. But I still want the same feeling, specs as my Joola Kool.

I was looking at these thick balsa blades. Can you give me a comparison of these in terms of (in order of importance to me):
1. Weight
2. Vibration
3. Thickness
4. Speed
5. Angle

Here are the blades:
1. Juic Air Texa (same texalium composition)
2. Juic Air Large (carbon)
3. TSP Balsa 8.5 Fitter/Top Speed (glass fibre)
4. Gambler Black Diamond
5. Andro Blax Off
6. Agilite Max Core Texalium
7. Stag Balsa Carbon

I'm really looking at the Gambler and the Andro because of the look. Hehe. I know, shallow! But also very curious about the Juic Air Large and the Stag, thick balsa with carbon! How good is that? I'm just wondering how heavy it is compared to Joola Kool.

Hope to hear you comments!

Cheers!

I've had the cool and TSP 8.5 side by side, and there was not a lot of difference in speed, the TSP a little faster and felt a little softer, so that's your closest match I would think...

They are very fast blades though...and not everyone will be able to control them or make the most of them...

I've just weighed 2 of them, both were 77g. In general there tends to be more variation in weight for thick balsa blades, since it's hard to get the thick balsa layer consistent, The density of balsa wood varies widely, and slight variation in density result in significant variation in weight.

Hi and welcome to this forum MBB!

Glad on seeing another member has joined up from Phi... :)

If you want something similar to the Kool, than I guess the Air Texa would fit what your looking for.

That is awesome! The TSP is even faster? I'd like to take a look at that.

I use soft chinese rubbers on the Kool, so speed is reduced. Adds real spinny serves and loops too. But my main game is close to the table blocking and counter attack, and the thick balsa blade really is amazing at this.

Thank you so much for the comparison haggisv.

Hi Metal Monkey! Where you from! Yes, I'm really looking at the Air Texa. You know where I can find Juic products here in the PH?

I personally think thinner (1.5mm to 2.0mm) firmer sponged rubbers work best for that style with a blade with such a soft feel. Go for 2.0mm if you loop, 1.5mm if you mainly block, push or hit.

Hi,

You should consider a more thinner balsa blade such as Butterfly Boll Tricarbon or Tibhar Rapid Carbon because if the blade is too thick you may not be able to hold the blade firmly when executing a powerful smash/drive - here I assumed your fingers are too short (no offence).

Good Luck to you.

Pangasinan, Mangaldan. ..... but I grew up here most of my life, and I move here too Australia back in 1982.

But If your looking for something faster than what you have now, might try looking at
Joola MC1 or Joola R1!.
the (TSP Balsa 8.5 Fitter/Top Speed (glass fibre), is a nice blade and I have heard plenty of good things about it but I have never tried it.

Thank you guys for the reply.

So if I get the TSP Balsa 8.5, you would recommend I put firmer sponges on it. Alright! Thanks for that tip!

Actually, the thick blades fit my hand perfectly, and I am very much used to these kind of blades, specially it's absence of vibration. Smashes are truly awesome with these thick blades as the energy doesn't dissipate because there is no vibration when you hit the ball.

Yeah! I'm trying to find an R1 here in the PH but the local Joola distributor here doesn't have it available. I want to find out how it feels like.

Thanks again guys!

There's another forum member here that absolutely loves his R1! (Tatwai) you can probably search up a review that he did not long ago or just PM him.

But if I remember correctly the R1 was around 13mm thick
