Hi guys,

My current setup (only relevant things) is BTY Innerforce ALC with Young Shine Dingtian Blue Sponge 40deg on the forehand (unboosted).

For those who do not know what this rubber is, it is a Chinese style rubber MASSIVELY inspired by the China national rubbers "DHS H3 Blue National" which were finetuned to the player's liking. Now as these personal FH rubbers cannot be obtained, former China National Team Coach: Guo Yan designed Young Shine Dingtian Blue which is meant to give the public a similar rubber to the national H3's used by the national team. You can read more about this at: https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/ ... ber.24053/

Now I see many players pairing this rubber with a viscaria blade but I do not own one lmao. However, I do own a Butterfly Gionis Carbon OFF blade. The composition is the same as Viscaria, 5+2 carbon layers one layer beneath the outer layer. Of course the difference is one being arylate carbon the other is just normal carbon.

Has anybody tried these two blades and would be able to tell me anything about how they play and what their differences are? Please also tell me your setup as well thank you.

I would take that with a grain of salt...many Chinese manufacturers have made the same claim when releasing that 'National version' rubbers, but most were not that special, or very inconsistent (which would explain the wide variety of impressions in that discussion).

To offer some information about your question, I've not compared them side by side, but I think the Gionis has a much harder feel and is less bouncy.

Gionis less flex so less spin & more hard so more direct speed. Viscaria more flex so more spin & less hard so less direct speed.

For chop block I will choose a stiff not hard blade, low weight.

For classic defense long distance of table I will choose a mid-flex & mid-hard blade with enough speed, mid weight or a little high but not a lot of weight.

N.B.
1- For classic defense you need flex for backspin but also hard for speed.
2- For chop-block it's essential low weight to allow control & stiff to increase reversal & disruption.
3- The weight it's crucial in both styles so everyone have to look his own blade weight looking for the compromise between control, reversal & disruption.
