Yes I think Andrew's analysis makes sense.

I'm not quite sure how an higher throw affects a chopper though... not sure if it's an advantage or not...

I think the higher throw helps when looping, but I'm not sure about chopping either. A teammate tried Donic A'Conda medium on his Butterfly Alpha and had trouble controlling it, but that may have been due to the harder sponge.

Has anyone used Donic Slice 40 for chopping?

Am I mistaken in my memory that RSM has never used Bryce? Either way, he does use a low-throw rubber similar to it (Xiom Omega).

But yes, I think it all just varies on your style and strokes and your timing on striking the ball, as well as how naturally closed your stroke angle is. I swing pretty powerfully upwards with my strokes and I'm often far back from the table, so I use low throw rubbers to keep the ball from getting too high while still maintaining high power strokes.

Yes, when Ryu was sponsored by Butterfly he was reported to use Bryce.

Yeah, he did use Bryce awhile back, and yes he uses Omega III now till Xiom discontinues it. Even then they may still make it for him I guess, but they did say they were going to stop production of it post ban. We'll see what he uses in the future. After playing Omega II Euro it makes me wonder how low of a throw it actually is. The throw of the Omega II Euro which is somewhat comparable to the Omega III in most characteristics I would definitely classify as Medium to Medium Low throw.

I don't know about the throw but in my area the players that play with bryce have no problems with choppers or looping underspin at all.

it's not about having problems, it's about more effort vs less effort.

You're missing the point. Give them a sheet of tango, then ask them which is easier to loop vs chop with.

well that's cause tango is so good hahah

I think against really heavy chop, high throw rubbers definately have an advantage, but against medium quality or low quality chops, lower throw rubbers can help finish the point much easier
