Are you asking about 1-ply hinoki blades?

Generally, I would say a harder rubber since the Hinkoi is quite soft. I have played with a few blades with thick Hinoki outers and like Tenergy 05 a lot on it. I have tried a few other rubbers (ESN and DHS) but nothing worked as well as T05.
I would not recommend soft rubbers as it will get too mushy and bouncy.

3-ply Hinoki is actually quite slow compared to a single-ply of like thickness. Both are quite soft feeling. You'll want a rubber with good speed; avoid soft sponge.

I always thought hinoki resulted in fast blades, then again I've never owned one. I remember such blades in Butterfly's old catalogs such as the Jonyer-H which was supposed to be quite fast.

As coincidence would have it, I hit around a little this afternoon with a Yinhe Kiso 7 ply (it had Rasant Speedgrip on the forehand side). Big revelation. It was slower than my N11, but what impressed me most was how easy it made to loop from middle distance. You could just about feel the ball. Maybe this is what people call "flexible", but this was a 6.5mm blade and I'm pretty sure it wasn't physically flexing.

Now to go find one. It's in the Yinhe 2014 catalog, but no one carries any except for an online store in Indonesia. Maybe there's something similar from a different brand. One ply-ers seem popular but few multi-ply blades. The single ply blades are very thick and heavy.

Nexy sells a 5- and a 7-ply Hinoki blade called Tamar V and Tamar VII. These are very high quality and nicely designed blades.

Searching the net for information, I came across the little tidbit that both the Nexy (or was it Xiom?) 5 and 7 ply kiso hinoki blades were being made in Taiwan. The implication is they're identical, or very similar. The Yinhe blades are/were selling for around $50, the Korean blades for twice that. The Yinhe blade I tried was (as with all Yinhe blades I've seen) of top quality in build.

Of course they are not! One is a 5-ply blade and the other a 7-ply made. The 7-ply is obviously thicker, faster and stiffer.

No, Yinhe makes both a 7 ply and a 5 ply. So does the Korean company. So the Yinhe 5 ply would be similar to the Korean 5 ply and the Yinhe 7 ply similar to the Korean 7 ply. They're all made in Taiwan, as are Yinhe's 1 ply hinoki blades. There's also, by the way, a 9 ply Yinhe. Same price, more like 7mm thick. Don't recall if there's a Korean equivalent.

Sorry, I misunderstood you initially. I agree!
