I've been using Karis M on backhand for a couple of years. However, in Australia, it's hard to get and the cost is silly. I like the linear response but wouldn't mind dialling the speed back 10% or so.

I've been looking at Mark V HPS as an affordable and readily available possibility. I suspect it would be too slow.

Any recommendations from those who've used Karis M?

I can't remember - Karis was supposed to be special in some way due to the ultra-short pips (it turns out there was something in the 729 line that had even shorter pips). If I recall correctly there were a bunch of other rubbers that were released that year or the year after that had ultra short pips and thinner topsheets, Rasanter was one of those. But I imagine Rasanter wouldn't be very "linear".
