I started playing seriously in the late 1960's, evolving into an inverted looper/backhand blocker. I started playing in Pennsylvania and got to see Dan Seemiller in his early days. I moved to Raleigh in 1973 and started playing in the club there, largely due to the warm welcome I got from Jim McQueen when I played in some Raleigh tournaments. Due to job and family, I reached about 1950 and then left table tennis for at least ten years. When I returned, I picked up hardbat and have been a full-time hardbat player for the last 10-15 years, playing at the Triangle Table Tennis Club. About two years ago I moved to western NC and now play at the Asheville Table Tennis Club. I am a retired Land Rover technician and community college automotive instructor. My other interests are gardening, travel, and motorcycles and scooters.
