Are some USATT clubs sabotaging the growth of the sport in the country by players being elitist? Noted in the article that this "club" started because they we "looked down on" at the USATT affiliated club in the area. We read from some members here the same sort of experience at times. How many players out there would start a club like this if they had access to such a space?

No question this is the case at the smaller clubs that are only open a few hours a week. Established players want to spend that valuable limited time against good competition. Usually newbies show up, spend a lot of time waiting and get massacred every game. Probably 9 out of 10 never come back.

7-day-a-week clubs will have lessons available and maybe set up newer players with appropriate opponents. But there are not that many clubs like that.

There is a pretty wide gap between most USATT players and most basement types.
