The Canadian Olympic Committee urged Immigration Minister Jason Kenney's office to fast-track the Canadian citizenship of a Chinese-born table tennis star in time for him to compete for Canada at the summer Games, a newly released document shows.

A short time later, Eugene Zhen Wang, the top-ranked table tennis player in North America, was a Canadian citizen.

He could have joined the US Army, got deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan and gotten his citixenship almost instantly, plus he would have been much safer with many friends carrying heavy weapons authorized to use them, compared to South Central LA, where you get capped like it is nothing.

This may sound silly but how does joining the US army get him citizenship in Canada??

The implication in the article is that this is some type of scandal that a politician gave preferential treatment to someone. Like that isn't something all politicians do regularly.

Many Countries have fast tracked athletes, I can see the benefits and downsides, to me it's just one of those things
