This is old news, I don'y know why they publish it now.

And this shoddy journalism is so full of misinformation I don't know where to start.

They claim the ball's size didn't change (not mentioning the .6mm INCREASE the ITTF snuck in). They claim that the change was made because table tennis balls are flammable (nothing about the worldwide celluloid ban the ITTF claims). They also mention how it might be an advantage to defensive players (even though defensive strokes and rubbers were never even tested).

I notice he also ignores the frictionless ban in his precis of changes.

But I do think that any publicity against the plastic ball is good at least...and this is highlighting Pro's (especially Baggeley) don't want it.

Both celluloid & plastic balls are equally as flammable as each other but when plastic burns it gives off Cyanide related gases which are highly toxic :n: :n: :n: :n: :n:
