Does anyone plan to renew their USATT membership? Seems like a total waste of money with no events to play. With the stupid new system where if you don't have an active membership you don't have a rating and don't exist in the eyes of the USATT, it would stand to reason that their membership might dwindle to record low numbers.

I doubt they'll extend anyone's membership expiration dates despite the pandemic.

I feel strongly that USATT and Virginia Sung sure messed up this sport for the US way more than it even was before. Virginia seems to be a *completely* clueless woman and how she's still in charge of running this organization is a real boggler.

I am also very strong in hte camp against the USATT policy of paying to keep ratings active viewable.

I am also against USA people so totally OBSESSING over their rating as well... but I believe the change in USATT polict for ratings and membership was a bad move.

I believe the USATT CEO knew the obsession syndrom and made a calculated move. I think it was the wrong move.

Did I already expess opposition to the USATT policy for ratings and membership?

They've kinda opened themselves up to a different rating system and competition in terms of table tennis events.

Anyone want to start a table tennis org?

Around the 1920s there was a US Ping Pong Association, owned by Parker Brothers. They sponsored players, held tournaments, put up prize money. Then some people got together and formed USTTA (what eventually became USATT), and an almighty war broke out. If you played in one association's tournaments you weren't allowed to play in the other's. If you were sponsored by Parker Brothers, or if Parker Bros. produced a bat with your name on it you weren't allowed to represent the US in ITTF tournaments (though Parker Bros. had their own world title championships). Yeah, it's been a century since then, and it's time for another all-out civil war... seems like everything else is shaping up that way in any case.... Just need to find another sponsor like Parker Brothers...
