It seems a common story for people to play table tennis when they're young, then quit as other parts of life take priority, but then many years (or decades!) later they return to make a comeback.

How many times have you left our sport, and made a comeback years later?

I took a break when I got married, then when we had our first child. Each less than two years break. I took another/third break when we had our second child. Over 4 years break due to Covid as well. Started again just end of last year.

Due to long break, I decided to switched to LP on the BH. And SP on the FH. Tried it for a couple of weeks, and seemed all was progressing well until I decided to use H3 I had laying around on the FH again. Then it’s like meeting good old buddy. So I cancelled the SP for FH, but still stick with LP on the BH.

Add 0 to the poll, for people who've played since they've picked it up :~)

Having left as a teenager and now getting back into it my late 20s, I tell every junior not to make my same mistake and stick to it! It's a truly a sport for life as an investment in physical and mental health, not to mention the fantastic people in the community providing the social benefit!

Good idea, added  It reset the poll though, so you'll have to vote again. ;)

Oops. Didn’t realize there’s a poll. I use Tapatalk and don’t see one. No notification of one either.

Can you normally see a poll, just not this one?

Never since I started playing (though a bit late in life). Have always found time for a hit even though it may have been on the very rare occasion or so when I was preoccupied with life's other commitments/challenges. As Vinnie put it: 'It's truly a sport for life as an investment in physical and mental health, not to mention the fantastic people in the community providing the social benefit!'. Well said Vinnie, I could not agree more

I came 4 times, twice was because my workplace has a table but stopped when I changed employer. Last time was about 7 yrs ago, I hv to go for a operation. Came back beginning of this yr. Still enjoying the game, but sad to say I am slower now cos age is catching up. I am 67 this yr. But some of the guys I play with are in their 70s n 80s.

I started playing casually when I was around 13 years old. In high school I used to play with fellow students in breaks or after schools, even during Physical Education lessons. Then while at the university (currently too) I started playing competitively when I was 19.

During my casual-playing years, I had a feeling I'm getting bored with the sport, but this was only for a couple of months. Then not so long ago, I had another feeling I'm getting burnt out again, but then I realized it was due to change of style. As soon as I had left the anti and went back to the inverted, I received another refreshed mood for playing.

So since my actual playing (April 2022) I haven't taken a pause up to now. I hope it's going to stay like that.

I only left once, for about 23 years.

There have been occasions where I have played very seldom, for example when I was living in India or the Middle East as it was too difficult to get to a club, but this wasn't intentional
