Just looking at the various websites that sell these things.

Surprisingly, the Huipang actually costs more, when you consider the separate net. With shipping, it might cost a little less. Adjusting the flight of the ball and adding sidespin - I notice there's a tilt stand sold for the i-Pong, shouldn't be difficult to make one for the Huipang - the Huipang has straight sides (and a square funnel) while the i-Pong is circular. Might even be possible to tilt it 45-60 degrees onto it's side, if I can make some sort of funnel extension to keep the balls from spilling out.

The main reason I'm actually thinking about getting one (despite its limitations) is that my other option is this:

It's not the price that puts me off - it's that I don't have a place to set it up permanently. If I'm going to use a robot, I'm going to have to haul it around, set it up, tear it down. The Y&T weighs 22 kg, another 13 for the net. Not very practical under these circumstances. Anything else, the shipping will be the killer.

There is a more expensive Huipang model that's more like a traditional robot, with a ball return:

Weighs about 20kg with the net. Might be an option.

If you want something you can move easily but is much better then an I-pong then I would suggest a Robo-pong 1050 or a Butterfly Amicus.

Problem. I go to the Butterfly Online Shop, first thing it asks for is the country. And mine isn't listed! No other nearby country, either! I tried selecting "U.S.A.", but then the Amicus isn't even listed under Robots. So I can't even get an idea of what one costs.

In EU country's it's about 1300$ for the basic Butterfly model. Where are you located?

When I got my Amicus Pro (now called their Basic model) in 2012, Bowie Martin of Butterfly USA told me that he had no plans to sell the Amicus line. At the time, he wasn't even aware they had come out with a 3-wheel version. Butterfly USA sells the SuperPong robot and apparently they are satisfied with their sales/profits from that model.

If you want to get one, call Butterfly USA up and request they order one from Europe for you. That's how I got mine. Or perhaps an easier way would be to call Attila Malek up at Power Pong and order one from him. His PowerPong robots are re-branded Amicus robots.

Also if price is a concern, you might consider calling Newgy up and seeing if they have any Reconditioned units available. These are units that have been returned to us under our 30-day money back guarantee and have been throughly reconditioned and which carry the same guarantee/warranty/service policy as a new unit.

Regarding Chinese units like the Huipang--don't forget to consider the serviceability of such robots. They don't have a service center in the US so all repairs/service will have to be from China. And cheaper robots from off-brand companies like this tend to have a greater incidence of repairs/service issues.

USD1300 is a hunk of change.. It'd probably cost 30-40% more by the time it gets here.

Problem is I'm not in the US at this time. And these higher end robots are really too much of an investment considering that I'm not playing tournaments, or even playing in a club at this time. The Huipang is cheap enough that I can justify the expense, plus it'd be portable enough to haul around.

Although its heavier than the Amicus, I prefer the solid ball collection tray. In general Oukei has excellent build quality.

the Huipang seems to be comming up as unlisted?
I got in some tuttle ones that look the same as this model

The Huipong manufacturer is likely the OEM for ipong and other variants such as Joola's.

In the chinese domestic market they sell the round style as the older version and the square one as v2/v3 or something like that.

I recall Oukei also had a cheapy one similar to the ipong design but with a wireless remote and more option.

IMO the one to get in Asia for cheapo is the new Y&T B3 I think. Two wheel, no oscillation but Y&T is serious brand.

Also the Y&T A9 which is just a 989E without the floorstanding is outstanding value at ~$400. That's the one I ended up getting.
