Lots of nice advice already, I would add a couple of things that come to mind, not necessarily technique related:

* I think it's important to keep the ball low and deep (although high slow ones can be remarkably challenging for opponents as well)
* Robot is nice, but it does not give you feedback on the quality of your shots. Practicing in the club against real opponents is super helpful. In my experience attackers like that type of practice, so 'win-win'.
* Depending on your (and your opponent's) level, you might not get a lot of chopping in actual matches for a while :). Practice might be enough to have fun, though. And even if they can loop reasonably well, it takes a bit of an effort to get into satisfying loop-chop rallies in the match: what to serve, how to receive, where to stand, how to move etc.

Hey everyone! It's been a while. I've been taking your advice and been trying to improve my chopping.

I've been focusing on trying to keep it low and long, and I've had some more success than before (I haven't gotten into many loop/chop rallies in matches, but when I get the chance to chop, I do, and it's always satisfying if I manage to get a point by the opponent netting it, which at the level I'm at happens more often than not).

I had a training session with a coach the other day, we were focusing on other things, but we spent some minutes at the end to practice some chopping.

When I practice chopping I realize my first couple of chops are garbage and it takes a bit to get into a proper rhythm where I start being more consistent. Not really sure what to do about this outside of, I guess, just keep practicing?

Indeed I've also been rotating my body a bit more (I'm a bit stiff in general, but still working on that!). Now I just gotta make sure I go back to a ready position so that I don't stay rotated :D

Here's the video.
