The blade is pretty OK, I'd really advise getting a pair of slower rubbers, but that would be the more expensive route.

The feel of the blade was amazing, but this bat was too fast for me.

So i'm planning on buying the Butterfly Kiso Hinoki V (off-) blade with Tenergy 64 on the FH (2.1 or 1.9?)

This will be as fast, if not faster than the bat you tested and called "too fast".

yeh I was confused, he didn't play with the Jonyer-Hinoki, he played with 1-ply Senkoh 90

:p

I just ordered the BTY All Hinoki 5 blade with 1.9 Tenergy 64 and 1.9 Sriver G2 FX,

It maybe is a bit fast, but hey! I have to improve right? :D
I'll learn to play with it, i can't wait!

Hey guys I've been playing club competition for about 6 months now and had my current setup: Primorac off, fh: sriver 1.5mm, tibhar speedy spin 1.5mm. I'm starting to think about getting some new rubbers and not too sure what to get. I'm still a relatively new player and developing my shots but would like something a bit faster - I tend to stay close to the table and try to loop the ball whenever I can. I'm still having trouble with my fh loops whilst my bh is more consistent and aggressive than my fh.

I was looking at replacing the Sriver with a Mark V or even just getting a thicker sriver.
As for my bh, I'm not sure if I should get something faster or keep with the same rubber.

What do you guys think?

Blade: Trinity Carbon
FH: Victas VS > 401
BH: Dr N Troublemaker OX
I think going for the same rubber but a little thicker is a good idea, and the easiest transition. 1.5mm is already a little hard to loop with, although excellent for learning technique, so for something around 2.0mm would give you a little more speed and spin.

Thanks Haggisv. As for my bh, unfortunately the max thickness for that is 1.5mm. You wouldn't happen to know anything that plays like Tibhar speedy spin but comes in 2 or 1.8mm would you?

You can buy speedy spin in thicknesses up to max (which is about 2.3mm). Pinke just doesn't carry it (In fact I don't think anyone in aus carries it). You could probably contact him and ask him, but it make take a while.

Alternatively, you can buy speedy spin from iruiru, presports, paddlepalace, etc

Hi,

I am after a recommendation I play at around intermediate level - I play quite a defensive style against some fairly hard hitters. I play rather well with an ancient (1980's i think) Stiga Whisp. So I think im looking for something with good control i guess to counter the speed/spin of my opponents - any recommendations for a factory bat up to say, $100?
Also, We are in North West NSW, Australia and have been using the cheap crappy Supermarket balls - we would be keen to try out using the 3 star balls but buying on eb*y is a bit cost prohibitive because of the high postage does anyone have a good local source.

Cheers in Advance

Richard

Try the one of a kind shop. http://oneofakindtrading.com.au/Shop/

Tell us more about your style. Is it classic or modern defence? Do you chop on both FH and BH? Do you chop at all? :p

Hi,

I tend to chop on the forehand and use topspin on the backhand - although my main shot is "scramble around like a lunatic desperatly trying to return my opponents smashes"

For a beginner wanting to try inverted on both sides which is easy to use as in which is better to control. Sriver or Sriver EL?

Had a couple of reads on this topic earlier today as I was deciding which rubber I would put on the backhand. I was pretty surprised with 729 FX Lightening, felt pretty good on the backhand. I wouldn't know how different it is from the Sriver FXs and the Mark 30s, but it's pretty cheap and easy to use.

Great recommendations on this thread.
