I like the support of my current pair of Mizunos, just that it doesn't offer the grip I'd like on the dusty wood parquet flooring of the local club.

Granted, the wet rag near the table works, just a pain really to keep cleaning the sole every ten steps. :?

I'd try to refrain from purchasing new ones just to suit the flooring, so aside from using something like Spinmax on the non-marking sole, what do you guys suggest?

Boost not the sponge, but rather the rubber under your shoe? :D

I'll give my current shoes a thorough detergent scrub, then try that idea on one of my old, forsaken Mizunos.

Thanks for the tip, rokphish!

In another note, how about those shoes with sneaker-like rubber material at the sole instead of the usual non-marking stuff?

No problemo... If I remember correctly he still have to re-apply the PO on the sole after a certain period of time, so it's not a one time deal.

Could you give me links to see the difference between the two?

Hmm, lemme see here; there was a specific model from Nike I used for badminton then, the sole looked like this:

Nike Tennis Classic

It wasn't exactly that model, but that type of sole (natural rubber?) seemed to fair a bit better on dirty floors than the non-marking stuff I bought recently.

I could try the olive oil-as-rubber rejuvenator for shoes...as sneakers don't really have that lateral support badminton and table tennis require, thus the reason why I changed shoes.

In my opinion, the best choice is Yonex.

I also use Yonex Badminton shoes. Only problem is, the last pair I bought from the internet looked white with a greem flash on them on the pictures. They arrived and are metalic silver with green. I now look like a right prat!

But I feel very comfortable!

I love my Yasaka gratien! I have broad flatfeet and it suits me beautifully! Just like any non-marking shoes, avoid wearing it from home to TT and back etc - wear sandals or something and change into your shoes at the TT venue. Change back to sandals when you go home.

I use Adidas Stabil 3 handball shoes.

They are light and support the foot very well. They also grip the floor nicely, but not so much as to make it hard to twist and turn on the sole.

IMHO, for most people any good quality badminton, squash or handball shoes will work just as well as specialised table tennis shoes as they are designed to cope with much the same type of floor, body movements and turns.

Yeah Brab, those soles look just like TT soles. And the shoe sides look quite high for good support. The Saviga's (which I think are supposed to be the same as Mizuno's IIRC) have low sides and little support IMAO (In My Achilles Opinion  )

For tt you need shoes that ease and support lateral movement. Therefore, shoes that are advertised for a more popular sport that requires lateral movement (volleyball, (big) tennis) should suit you. If you have slim feet, I recommend the Asics brand. They cost a lot, but last a long time as well. Currently, I am using B40PQ model, and before that I used a similar model that lasted ~6 years of indoor games and normal outdoor walking.

UPD. Also please don't just order something on the internet and then suffer through it when it sorta kinda fits. Don't be lazy, go to the proper retail stores and make sure the shoe is holding the leg very well, otherwise you will regret it.

For me, I currently use Mizuno for table tennis shoes. Before I used the Butterfly/Asic partnered shoes that worked beautifully, then decided to try the newer Butterfly Lezoline shoes that were done without Asic collaboration... HOT GARBAGE (interesting enough, I was warned not to purchase them).

So I always purchase Mizuno for TT now a days.

Currently using Mizuno Wave Medal Boa's
