Hi All,
I need to learn RPB so I have decided to get a custom racket around 40 USD. Need All to OFF - Blade with medium hard tacky Chinese rubbers.
Any suggestions guys ?

How is YEO for RPB ? How would 729 Super FX 2.1mm be for looping close-mid distance ? Any suggestions for BH rubbers good for RPB ?

YEO is a good penhold blade at a very reasonable price.
How about:
-729-08 or 05 for FH (08 is tackier), and 729 III snipe for BH?
-Off- to All+ set up, I guess.
-a controlled but not overly powerful set up to start playing penhold (RPB).

Experienced shakehand player who wants to play penhold just for fun? Sounds a little like me.

My experience (limited) suggests the following:

Blade: Fiber reinforced blade is good fun, and excellent for penhold. YinHe Y-4 (ALL) or Y-13 (OFF)
Main rubber: Penhold works best with chinese style rubber, tacky with firm sponge. DHS Hurricane 3 or PF4.
Backside: Softer rubber is better for "reverse strokes", and also makes the setup a bit lighter (which does make a difference for penhold). KTL Pro XP/XT or YinHe Mercury II.

This should be around $40. Of course you can go cheaper. Almost any DHS/Friendship/YinHe premade penholder should serve you nicely, starting around 14$, perhaps lower if you shop around (or ask Iskandar).

YinHe market their blades under "Galaxy" brand, and rubbers are "Milky Way", so look for those brands too if you can't find "YinHe".

Practiced penhold on my friend's premade racket DHS A6006, although it was fun to generate more spin using wrist with Penhold, but it seemed too complex for a beginner like me. Also I met with an accident today, my shakehand Stiga All Round blade broke. It has a crack near the handle upto center. Quite disappointed by the quality of Stiga since racket fell during serve and fell on floor.

Thanks Iskandar for the suggestion. But I have tried M8 earlier and it is did not suit me because of its weight(75 gms). My broken Stiga Allround Classic blade was around 90gms and suited me perfectly. Will start looking for the replacement as soon I recover from this incident.

Might go something cheaper this time to avoid such situations. Maybe Yinhe W6 or PG7.

If you want all-wood ... PG7 is perfectly fine.

Or if you like to hit the ball harder I think PG9 or PG8? might be better ( all-wood blades )

I heard that DHS Dipper? or Magician? series is also good but I haven't ever tried those yet.

729 SuperFX and 729-02 and 729-08 and 729 GeoSpin Tacky and 729-Origin are fine though a little difficult to control ... but very good Block and good spin and I dont think smashing will work too well.

729-05 and 729 Focus+Snipe III are Beginner rubbers like for Counter-hits, push and medium loops ... If you have never played TT drills or multi-ball or robot trainer .... then stick with these until you can push and loop heavy cut returns.

729-05 and 729 F+S III are like MarkV ... if you dont want to spend lot of time changing rubbers ... buy 2 MarkV and heavy-foam side-tape to protect the edges .... you shouldnt have to change rubbers for 20+ years !

Also find a SUPPORTIVE coach who can teach you even if you are a Penholder. Very few great coaches exist who help players with technique and movement and stroke-quality .... most are just their style of Shakehand and dont care about the players at all.

I'm finalizing PG7 for now, as it's all wood and has good feeling. Will have to peel off 2 months old Mark V rubbers from my old broken blade. I'm new to assembling process as I got old bat assembled from TT11.My old rubbers look perfectly fine as I wipe it daily with damp cloth after use. Which cheap glue do you guys prefer ? By watching YT videos of rubber gluing it seems to be fairly simple process.
