Most reviews and forum posts call it light, it's one of the most mentioned things about this rubber. But that is misleading. A sheet of AK47 Blue I just received weights 62g uncut. I predict that the cut weight will be 47-48g + glue, booster etc. That makes it the same weight as Battle II and heavier than H3 Neo (45g cut) which has tuner and glue already applied.

Yet AK47 Blue is rated 2.2/10 (very light) and H3 Neo is rated 6.6/10 (medium heavy) on Revspin! Anybody else finds that ridiculous? AK47's weight is average at best and H3 doesn't get enough credit for being so light!

What's the size of your racket? What's the size of the sheet? Uncut weight means nothing if you can't compare the gsm.

My experience with 62g would equal low 40s, pretty light.

AK47 is crap, but mine weighed 41g cut, so yeah, definitely light.

Most of my blades are around 150x157, standard offensive size. I still have the cutout from an AK47 Yellow and it weights 16g and the Blue should be less dense. No way it will go from 62 to 40 cut.

I suspect that there are wild inconsistencies with these rubbers' density/hardness, other people reported that they got sheets of Blue that were harder than the Red.

1. yes, 62g cut to "standard" size would be low to mid 40s, nothing excessive.

2. Your yellow weighs 16g???

3. Variations happen with every brand and model. Is this the first time you bought a rubber more than once? Or are you just posting something to dis a company? lol.

62 grams uncut would be sort of middling-heavy. I don't have my records handy, they're at the office, so I'll look at them on Monday to see what my sheet of AK47 Blue weighed. Chinese sheets tend to be a little smaller (165x165mm give or take a few mm) than Tensors (170x170) so if a Chinese sheet and a Tensor weighed the same the Tensor would actually have slightly less areal density and would weigh slightly less when cut. I posted about rubber sizes recently, here:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=36679#p379889

From my measurements, the typical Chinese (attacking) blade has an area (covered by rubber) of almost exactly 200 sq. cm., equivalent to a square of 141.4x141.4mm. That typical uncut sheet of Chinese rubber would have 165x165mm = 272 sq. cm of area, so a cut sheet would have about 74% of the area (and weight) of the uncut sheet.

Mind you... sheets vary a LOT in weight - it's something that manufacturers seem to have less control over than other things. Look at Haggis's table of rubber hardnesses - there are several sheets of Tenergy 05 listed, see what the variation in weight is - it's pretty broad. A couple years ago someone was complaining that the second sheet of Nexy Karis they bought (this is a $50 sheet made in Japan) weighed 20 grams more than the first sheet. When I bought ten sheets of Reactor Corbor, five of the sheets were fairly light - 57, 58 grams - and the other five sheets were more like 68 or 69!

If you're weighing sheets and not measuring their length and width.. shame on you!! And I'd take much of what's posted on Revspin with a huge grain of salt.

Firstly, I wouldn't trust most figures or reviews on Revspin ...

That being said, the AK-47 (Blue) is indeed a light'ish rubber, but not as light as it's touted to be on Revspin.. I've been playing with one, for almost a year, and it's a decent rubber... After cutting, mine weighed in the lower 40s, since it's glued to an oversized blade (Read my signature) ..... The weight of a cut rubber may differ, depending on the size of the blade it's glued to ... Plus, I've come to realize that there are manufacturing inconsistencies, and poor quality control, by a lot of these Chinese brands. So, parameters such as the weight of the rubber sheet may differ (at times, significantly) from lot to lot...

Hello,

Got my AK-47 Red (Thus completing the triology,in the new AK-47 series) last week and glued it onto the XVT Knight 7 Blade... This time, I had the presence of mind, to weigh the rubber, uncut, and cut...

Uncut Sheet : 58gms
Cut : 40gms

Please Note : I think, the XVT Black Knight 7 Blade has a slightly smaller than average head size..

I agree that xvt blades are rather small, I have one. And it goes on to show how inconsistent AK47 is when an uncut Blue sheet weights more than Red!

I'm not sure if it's just the rubber productions that inconsistent, or whether it's the reported figures that are inconsistent (??)

It is rather a light-weight rubber, at least in the category of a fast/2.1mm sponged attack rubber. Too springy for me, as my blade is quite stiff for a defensive blade. I have removed it and glued a piece of Andro Hexer Grip SFX 1.9mm Very happy with the change! :)

I hope that these help:

When I say a sheet is light, I mean it is light with no boosting or glue. I suspect others do the same.

Got Yellow and Blue in the mail today. Yellow is 66g and Blue is 57g uncut. Didn't expect Yellow to be that heavy.
