Hi everyone,

Just replacing my rubbers using the Nitakku Finezip 50, and I found that it made these really small grainy textures on the rubber when I was applying it. I can't tell if it's either expired/bad batch, or the sponge I was using actually stuck onto the rubber. Either way, I got rid of it on the rubber, and I wanted your advice.

Am I applying too little of the glue onto the rubber, and that's what's causing the glue to not be slick and smooth, or should I get some new glue?

I'm going by an arts and crafts store tomorrow and might pick up some water-based glue there. Is any type of water-based glue fine or should I really be using 'table tennis glue' specifically? Is there a difference? What are your recommendations?

Thanks guys!

Forget the water based glue. If you are going to an art store, just get some Elmer's Rubber Cement. It's a lot easier to use and won't damage your blade. Unless you play at the National or International level your bat will never be subject to a VOC test so that isn't something to worry about.

Use a proper table tennis glue. Find some videos about table tennis glue and see how much glue they use. I use revolution #3.

If it's hot and dry, the glue will dry quicker, so don't use a super thin layer or it may dry while you are still spreading it (and cause tiny little balls of rubber to appear on the rubber)

It just takes some practice. The rev #3 comes off really easily on most sponges so it's easy to practise.

I use water based latex glues, but I also made an awesome glue using recycled glue (latex) from unglued rubbers and universal solvent (toluene 50%).

It's a kind of speedglue with water based latex glues advantages:

- it dries immediately
- it has speedgue effect for about 48h
- like water based glues, it's a layer of rubber between the blade and the rubber so that the rubber will have good elasticity
- very easy to remove (like water based glues, you can remove it with a single movement and you can recycle it again

In these photos I was removing the rubbers glued with this glue after only 2 days since I made it when the glue was like a gelatine, after 3 weeks the glue became like the honey all the impurities (small pieces of sponge and paint were completely decantated on the bottom of the bottle).

With glue from 2 bats you can make 250ml of "speedglue".
