I am a recreational player from India currently playing with pre-made GKI Dragon. As I have been continuously playing for about 4-5 months, my game has improved a lot & I feel the need to upgrade to a better paddle for improved spin and control. I am a backhand dominant player with ok forehand. I am looking forward to Mark 5 rubber on backhand and hurricane Neo 3 for the forehand. I am not sure about the blade though I am thinking about Tibhat Carbon Shot or Butterfly Joneyer H-II. I prefer more spin and control over speed. Please recommend what should I go with as this will be my first custom paddle.

Blade: Nittaku: Shake Defense
FH: Andro: Rasanter R48 1.7
BH: Spinlord: Leviathan 1A ox
Any 5 ply all wood blade will be fine. Keep it simple and don’t over think it.

How about this?
Donic Waldner Exclusive AR+ with Yasaka Mark V on backhand and Andro GTT 45 on forehand.

Mark 5 is a great rubber for leaning topspin, drives, loops, blocking and counter hitting, good choice. I don't have any experience with the waldner blade but i note its an all+ 5 ply wood blade - also a good choice. I also dont have any experience with andro GTT 45, but it sounds generic enough. There will be a noticeable change coming from a pre made bat. Good luck. Let us know how you go

Will it be better to use Mark V on forehand as well? Will it provide enough power and control for the forehand?

Coming from a pre made bat it will have heaps of power. You could try 1.8mm on the BH and 2.0mm or max on the FH.

Mark V is a great rubber for beginners, good choice.

Good choice. If you are looking for more feel and control consider the Yasaka Sweden Classic blade. Real gem! Good luck.

Yes the Sweden classic seems great but unfortunately it is out of my budget here in India.

That's rather strange as generally they both are within the same price range. If that's not the case in India, the Donic is still a good choice.

As per the recommendation from the expert coach, I have ordered the following.
Donic Waldner Exclusive AR+ blade
Andro GTT 45 on Backhand
Andro Hexer Duro on the Forehand.
Waiting for it to arrive and test it out.

You will find it more lively than the the pre-made you are currently using. Good equipment choice moving forward. Good luck and most importantly have fun enjoying this lovely sport!
