Blade: Trinity Carbon
FH: Victas VS > 401
BH: Dr N Troublemaker OX
I've never seen one in shrink-wrap like that. We're a Butterfly dealer, and all of ours come in a box, and the blade does not have the plastic shrink-wrap.
It's possible that Butterfly Japan does ship them like that for different regions, I don't know, but i would be suspicious unless someone can confirm that genuine ones ship like that.

I thought authentic Butterfly blades had some sort of monogram ?

Anyway I see these knockoffs on AliExpress. But not sure if is legal to say a player's name on the blade without permission.

Personally I would not buy a Butterfly (I am sort of an advanced beginner , rating around 1100 in Rating Central). Unless you want a 500 Pound /Euro / dollar blade as a status symbol to impress that special someone.

Or at least first if I ever get to be even an intermediate player. I would look at the Butterfly blade composition, first ask someone at your club if you can try their racket, Butterfly or knockoff. Then if you like it, order the knockoff first. If it seems sufficient, stay with it. Of if you can afford, then you can order the real deal.

When I say knockoff, I think you should stay away from the fake blade with a player name on it. Just the blade with identical layer composition.

It would be interesting to know what the differences may be. I doubt if the wood layers are same. Of course the bonding epoxy or glue or whatever maybe Butterfly trade secret. Also Butterfly blade may be machine assembled. Don't know about knockoffs & pros & cons.

If I recall correctly, this was one of the several blades that you'd often encounter as counterfeits on AliExpress 3-4 years ago (I haven't looked recently). Others included the Butterfly Primorac and Boll, and the Nittaku Violin. Typically they'd be sold for something like $20-25 - very obvious counterfeits. Not saying yours is, but there's a high likelihood it is one of these AliExpress blades (just about all Chinese blades are shrink wrapped). I suppose it depends on what the seller wants for it.. if it's under $25 I'd buy it just for the heck of it - even if it's not genuine it still might be usable and might even be a good blade. If he wants $50 I'd look elsewhere.
