Hi guys, I decided experiment with my setup. I've dusted off my old Victas Matsushita Offensive, gonna try some ox pips on the bh (I have an old sheet of C&F3). I have no idea what to put on the forehand however.
My play style, I'm rated a little above 1900 USATT, a wannabe modern defender. Some days my footwork is good enough to 3rd ball and attack loose balls, other times I'm almost entirely defensive ie: far from the table mixing fishes/loops and fh chop. Anyone out there still using this blade and happy with their setup? Seems like lots of player are jumping on board to harder/tacky rubbers, I have next to no experience with this but I'm thinking about it...

Do you chop far from table with FH ?

Many Japanese up and coming choppers use that blade with V>15 variants (Limber, Stiff or Extra) on their FH and P1R or P4 on their BH... I used to play VKMO/V>15Extra/Curl P4 for at least 2-3 years up until very recently.

Thanks, appreciate the replies! Yes I do chop from distance with the fh, but depending on the situation I vary fishes and counters. I've been trying to stick to the table more to gain possible offensive advantage lately (looking for that pivot fh). I did consider gluing on my old V15 extra rubber. I'm not sure my technique could handle it on the VKMO (I've never tried the softer variants). Were you able to control and keep your fh chops low and spiny with that setup? My touch is probably not good enough... like many aspects of my game :?:

I only used the blade briefly a few years back, I remember it being a little lively and the outer ply being quite hard. I'm curious why you switched to the diode V and how it compares.

As you said... it's all about your skill. My current setup is even faster.. (Diode is faster than VKMO). And yes, it chops just fine. If your FH chop is not very stable, consider putting a slower, maybe even a sticky rubber like Rakza Z, H3, etc. I remember trying to chop with Rakza Z right after my V>15 Extra and it felt too easy, almost like cheating.

I just remembered there is a guy on youtube -- his channel is The Chopper. He is a Victas sponsored player and chops with V>15 Extra 2.0 and P1R 1.0 on a Victas Koji Special (which is VERY similar to the VKMO speed-wise). You should see his FH chop..

P.S. He mentions his setup in every video in the description.

Whoa I'm surprised the new diode is even faster, I'm sure what be too much for me. I love Kleinerts game, I've already tried to model parts of my game after him. I'm always blown away how he can use both sides of the racket in all situations (pips chop with fh, and even inverted bh chop). His ability to control the v15 on a fast(ish) blade astounds me. Right now I value control above all else... pushes, chops, and feeling on the loop. I can see at a higher level the benefits of v15, my successful attacks with it where very powerful. I think I've lost some confidence in my strokes lately so I'm looking to rebuild a little bit.
