I have just found out how it feels to play with a real "lively" setup. For months on end, I've been using a the Darker 3 Mai Gouban blade with NO vibration and a Nittaku ShellShock with NO vibration.

These blades gave 0 feedback and I can't believe how I could play with them now.

It turns out that I didn't mind the dead rubbers on my blades because they didn't provide any feel in the first place!

Now, onto the review.....

Today, I got my Stiga NCT Allround with Mambo H 2.0 both side (not tuned/glued/boosted/SPG/expanded, just normal XD). The feedback is just incredible! I am in love with vibrations now! :D

The Stiga NCT Allround Wood is a zippy all wood blade which was felt like a OFF- to me. The sweet spot is huge! Handle is a rough Legend which feels nice and comfy as well as stopping you from dropping your bat.

The setup felt very "crisp" and felt sooo good.

The Mambo H has a very grippy topsheet which is very thin and elastic. The sponge is quite hard and I've heard it's meant to be for glueing but ah well. Quality is perfect and the topsheet is attached well.

Loops/Drives against topspin
The arc is very low making it a real offensive rubber. Drives are amazing, 10/10. Looping is hard due to the low-ish throw and hard sponge. It's not for 1-3meter away from the table loops. 7/10

Loops against backspin
Again, the hard sponge and low throw makes it pretty hard to loop chops. You may have to give a good exagerated swing to get some on, 7/10. Against pushes it is more deadly, letting you blast a drive past your opponent, 9/10

Drives
Pure magic! Great low flat trajectory which carries not much spin but enough to give a good kick off the table. 11/10. This is what it's made for!!

Smashes/Punches
The zippy blade releases all it's power along with the hard sponge and elastic topsheet. Punches on the BH are just a winner every time! 10/10

Chops
Too zippy and fast.....4/10

Babe Factor
Urrr........let me practice some more

I'm sticking to this setup for sure. I'm probably going to change the Mambo H on the FH to Nittaku Reforma to accomodate more of a looping game.

Update

Serves
It's ok. But you would probably want something more spinny if you rely on serves. 8/10

Check this out for a comparison between 2.0 Reforma and 2.0 Mambo H

Hey Rooster, I heard someone say that Nittaku Refoma made Mambo a "Refoma Wannabe" rubber. How do you compare Refoma and Mambo performance? BTW, did you read my Rooster joke at DTTW joke thread?

Just read that joke! :x :o :) :D      \

I haven't got round to sticking my Reforma on yet. I'll update the review once I have. I am guessing that Reforma has a much softer sponge making it more ideal for loops but less for drives and punches. It's probably going to be more spinny on serves as well.

Replacing a sheet of Refoma at a few pennies under $40 a sheet finally got too expensive for my tastes. You'll love it on a stiff/fast blade. I also gave JDS a sheet to replace one he ripped and was pretty much the end of my Refoma era. I explored, and still explore a bit, Chinese offensive rubbers that cost 1/2 to 1/3 that price.

Actually, I get it quite cheap at around ¥ 3000.

And I actually don't mind how slow it is. There's much better "linear" feel and the spin is astounding. As you've experienced before, this is one unique rubber.

And for next... keep the NCT, and change the Mambo H for Tenergy 05, and tell me how you like that.

So there's another guy playing with a Stiga Allround NCT ! Nice ! :D

It would be great if you could give me some more advice, for example if you could tell me about how other rubbers played on the ANCT.

I just fear that Tenergy 05, even in 1.9mm would be too fast, you can prove me wrong though! *please please somehow persuade me into buying some Tenergy !*

Just play with it long enough to get used to it. I changed by the recommendation of my coach.

What happened to your other setup?????

Anyway, so Tenergy 05 is ok if I play enough to get used to it? Other candidates are Juic 999 Elite Nano.
