47* has white sponge, 42* has yellow sponge. 42* is noticeably faster, slightly spinnier, and harder (for me, at least) to control. Personally, I'd like to see a 52* Blitz.

Where are people buying blitz from? Are both types available?

I've an interest in this thread as I have been wondering about the differences between 47.5 deg and 42.5 deg, but in my case with another Palio rubber, Macro Era. I have used 47.5 to date, but have bought some 42.5 to test. The sponge colour difference that Nathanso mentions is the same with PME.

Has anyone used both PME versions? I'll post back in a couple of weeks.

http://www.ttarmory.com in the USA sells both but his website is mostly down so you must order by email and know what you need in advance.

nathanso, which BBC blade did you try the 42 on?

I have been playing 47/42 on 2 blades, a skinny BBC Triflex, and an AVX BT555. On both, the 42 is a little softer and spinnier. I don't notice any big speed difference. The 42 stays on the raquet a split second longer than the 47. I haven't noticed the 42 to be faster or harder to control than the 47. The 42 on both blades loops really well.

Ooak shop has them too 8) , so I've tested the 42deg version. It is quite fast with high glue effect. From memory from my brief hit with the 47deg version, it is as fast as this, with good spin and fairly high throw, and of course a softer feel. SHould work best on firmer or composite blades.

I've had it on many of them; don't recall the specific blade+rubber performances, however. Having since moved on to hard-sponged Chinese rubbers (and advancing my game) Blitz doesn't interest me much these days.

Nearly on topic, but I replaced the 47.5 deg Macro Era with 42.5 on my Acoustic last night. Both MAX

I didn't have the best of practice partners - no-one that would really sustain big F/H to F/H exchanges; I will need a few more sessions, but ....

- 42.5 feels a lot softer than even a broken in 47.5
- More spin on serve and short game; excellent dwell.
- Probably too soft on a soft blade like the Acoustic
- Absolutely excellent for flicking short serves
- I initially struggled to loop heavy backspin - I played a lot of games v the club 'chiseller'; but I adjusted reasonably well by the end of the evening.
- Less speed, more spin on loops and drives; loops stayed quite low though
- Less catapult effect than anticipated
- I suspect it will play better on a harder blade (like my Violin) and I think I will revert back to 47.5 on the Acoustic as, bottom line, my attacks didn't seem to have as much penetration.

More to follow .....

One other difference.. a cut sheet of 42* is 2-3g lighter than 47*, should weight be a concern of yours. I'm also recalling that 47* was more spin-resistant (uncanny, really) than 42*.

yet they generate jsut about the same spin, with same control... that does sound weird.. but interesting

To follow up - 42.5 definitely needs a harder blade than the acoustic for my type of game (on forehand). My loops are very forward, driven strokes. Too much dwell time made it quite sensitive to spin, unlike 47.5 on the same blade, and it had nothing like the potency of 47.5 on driven strokes. I will try it on my violin, but it is back to 47.5 on the match bat.

Hi everybody :)

I'l new here, I currently play with a hard carbon blade associated with 2 LKT rapid speed rubbers, speed is fast, block and counter attacking is very effective, but I hardly get any "thrill" from my racket, and initiating attacks on backspinning balls is challenging, I'm looking for a fast rubber, with abilities in counter looping and good control in hitting, but allowing some "vibrations" to get to my wrist to know what I am doing

I mainly do active block in my BH and I often nitiate looping attacks with my FH

I was wondering if I should get the 42 or the 47 version of the blitz, or maybe should I get the 42 version for my FH and the 47 for my backhand, or maybe other rubbers ?

I used to play with speed glue when it was allowed, donic j o waldner was my favorite FH rubber and Desto for my BH, but I'm not willing to spend big money on fancy rubbers like Tenergy...

Thank you very much for any advice :)

a good blocking rubber would be 729 Focus Snipe 3... Blits is a good bit more sensitive to spin which woukld make it better for creating spin than jsut blocking it
