I am posting this topic because I cant find any topic about this, but many of you write about the W-series. If you find this topic elsewhere, please post link to it.

I know many people have tried the W-series blades, so if you could write reviews of them, and maybe compare there characteristics with some other blades I would greatly appreciate it

I have two W-1s. The description is very good. I have no problem with control even with fast rubbers on them. One wears Dr Evil on the back side and it can make real short drop shots. The other has Screw Soft ( 1m sponge ) on the back side and I have no trouble chopping away from the table.
The blade does not feel like most carbons. No ping and no vibrations. Has a wood feel but still pretty fast. The blade loops real well and drives are fast. Kills leave vapour trails.
I can tell you the MC-1 (Galexy) is slower that the W-1, has a small amount of vibration and an even softer feel. Makes brush loops a little eaiser but still is not a slow blade.
I like the flared handles on the blades, both similar, a little bigger than some other blades.
As far as the "control" rating given, I ignore them as all they do is put a number up inverse to the speed rating. I have no control problems with it.

I'm using a W-1 as well. I agree with Hookshot for the most part - the only difference is the vibration, cause I distinctly feel some (probably due to different rubbers used). If you're going for an OFF blade with ample control, soft/flexi and wood feel, this blade is a good candidate. It's not really fast though (can't really be placed in the OFF+ category imo), so if you like a really fast blade, there're others you should consider. I feel this blade can be quite good for chopping due to its soft core .. maybe a real chopper can confirm/dismiss this.

I agree, it is not an offensive +. It is fast enough that when I put the power on, it does not feel like a handycap. The difference with a kill shot between an off+ and this blade is not very much.
With most All+ or Off_ blades, I can see the number of returns from my partner go up. The W-1 is quick enough I can still get some past him.
When I bought the W-1s, I sealed one with three coats of poly so I could compare. I could not feel any difference so sealed the other one also. Even uncoated, neither one had any vibrations. This could be due to the batch of wood on hand when they made the blades. Wood is not as predictable as metal and blades will vary.
Anyway, I think this is a very good blade for an agressive style.

how about malincarbon vs w1? Which is faster,softer?

Yea, that could be it. Mine seems to be on the softer side. When I bought it, I chose the lighest of the 3 in the store. The heavier ones probably have denser wood and hence less/no vibration. And it does have the speed to power through. Pretty unique blade, but I'm guessing it probably won't be that popular with younger players nowadays who like real hardbats.

Sunflex:
The MLC is stiffer, but slower (less catapult). Still, it's not a stiff blade relative to those hardcore stiff ones. I noticed the carbon in MLC is denser than the one in W-1, thus giving it a more solid feel. Outer ply is similar to W-1. It's thin (about 5.8mm), comfortable for rpb if you use c-pen. Kinda fragile though.

Yepp, the weight of a blade affects the vibrations and the speed. My friend has a 99g H1-9 one ply. It is a rocket maker. He ordered the lightest one our dealer has and they sent him a 72g H1-9. It's speed was like an allaround. He used it for 2 minutes, pulled the rubbers off and sold it.

That's why I never understood why people would ask for the lightest blade, as if that one was the best. If it's lighter, it will be slower if it's a 1 ply blade.

My favorite 1 ply hinoki blade was a Nittaku Rorin as it was heavier, like 95 grams. The ones I had that were less than 90 grams were much slower.

Thanks for that post Andrew. I thought I must have been crazy to like a heavier blade with all this talk of light blades being most sought after. I thought there must have been a secret I was missing with them LOL. I find the feel of heavier blades more solid, less vibration and more power generally. But then I haven't played with a lot of light blades so I thought maybe the ones I had played with were just below par.

have you tried any blade very similar to the W1, maybe something that is cheaper or has a little more power

Do you think the W-1 would pair up well with Dawei Inspirit Quattro?

I m looking for a chinese cpen that is not as small as wind carbon,just chinese cpens are designed for small hand players ,i m looking for similar size compared to euro cpens blades like clipper and other stiga versions, anyone knows about a chinese brand cpen wide enough
