Just saw the final. It's now posted at http://www.pingistv.se/index/30?eventid=2388

Åkerström played really well with the pips. Lots of good hits and blocks at the table. The only thing that kept the match close was Fabian missing about 90% of his forehand flicks.

More vids, from other angles, showing the audience. The competition was held in Karlskrona, where Fabian was born and raised, and it was his first (or at least the most important) club that arranged the competition :-) :

What he meant in that interview was probably his change to Dornenglanz, but that was no news for us :). He uses that in in ox Blue Whale nat medium 2,1 on FH, on a Donic Persson Powerplay.

He's just responded, he's using Donic Persson powerplay blade and Dornenglanz pimples. From memory he uses a sponge under the pips.,, not sure what thickness.

According ti Lars Borg at Japsko, who in some way supplies Fabian with material I think, and who also probably visited the competition, he uses Dornenglanz ox on that blade an Blue Whale II national medium hard 2,2 on FH.

I just found a short part of the match between Fabian Åkerström and another great LP-blocker (probably second best in Sweden), Marcus "Magoo" Johansson, from an international competition in Sweden (Safir's International) a few weeks before Fabian was crowned Swedish champion. Fabian won, but it was close, 11-8 in deciding game (9, 6, -7, -7, 8 ). Below is a link to that last set.

At 396:39 in this film chunk (the first film): http://www.pingistv.se/index/30?eventid=2370

I have no idea what setup Marcus is using. He is ranked #124 in Sweden (Fabian is now at #15)

At the Swedish Championchips Marcus almost beat Robert Svensson (who plays in Fulda, with Wang Xi) in the first round: 7, 4, 7, -7, -7, -7, 5 to Svensson (currently ranked #7 in Sweden)
Luckily I found that match also (full match, it would be good if anyone could rip it and put it on Youtube :) ): 30 seconds into the last filmchunk at this link
http://www.pingistv.se/index/30?eventid=2386

Very entertaining to watch. I like Johansson's style, combining LP blocking combined with a strong FH looping game  . And what a close victory for Akerstrom! Really curious about Johansson's long pimples... the sheet itself is a bit shiny, but I doubt the pips are smooth because he seems to have quite some friction...

Here is a short interview in Swedish regional television where you can see Fabian twiddle in practice, and you can get a very clear view of his bat:
http://www.svt.se/nyheter/regionalt/sma ... -3-minuter

He talks about that he practice 6-7 hrs every day, that he aims at the next Olympics or the one in 7-8 years. His trainer talks about that in 5 years he wants to see Fabian in a German or French top league, in a good training group with top players. His training partner says that Fabians best parts is that he combines offensive game with good defence, and that you never know what kind of ball he will return.

I was trying to figure out what version of Persson Powerplay Fabian plays with: old non-hollow version, V1 or V2. Any idea? And what are the main differences between them. Are V1 and V2 also very head-heavy (as Defplay Senso)?

Found some additional information about Akerstrom at http://www.ttproagency.com/

According to Japsko.se it is:
Persson Power Play Senso V2 http://www.japsko.se/lang-en/offensivst ... so-v2.html
That is the only Donic blade they sell and they took it in right after Fabian won men's title in Sweden a few weeks ago.
