I’ve been playing for several years and have always played with premade paddles, I am new to the custom paddle industry and am quite overwhelmed by all that’s out there. I’d classify myself as an intermediate-advanced player that plays mostly offensively. If someone could walk me through what all I need to do to make a paddle, that would be awesome(good bats, rubbers, glues, etc.) Budget friendly options would be best if possible! Thanks guys!

Get one of these blades:

and then get a pair of rubber sheets. I suggest these:

Done.. A "custom racket" for under $17... including shipping... And believe me, this isn't a joke. I play with this same exact blade and have been trying out different rubbers over the last 2 years or so.

If $17 is too much here's the same blade (as far as I can tell) and two sheets of Sanwei T88 rubber:

Oh yeah... you need glue. My recommendation is to use Elmer's Rubber Cement:

iskandar gave you very good suggestions. Since they are Chinese sources, it may take a while to get to the US.

If you are impatient like me, try Colestt or Zeropong if you are in the US. Very reasonable and just as good as anything else out there that costs hundreds of dollars.

Speaking about being impatient in the US... where do you get Spinlord rubbers from? tt11 is good but the shipping is about half of the rubber price.

Thanks for the suggestions! My idea of budget is around $40-50, I should’ve mentioned that in the first place. Is there a better product that you could recommend the extra money? Possibly in the United States? (Sorry if I’m asking too much) thanks!

You'll find a lot for more money but you won't find much that's better. About the same for more money? Yeah, lots of those. Worse for more money? LOTS of those, too..

Chinese rubbers won't last as long - but for the price might be okay for you.

However for a first time build you have some solid suggestions here.

Actually, I'd argue that Chinese rubbers last the longest. The newfangled (very expensive) German and Japanese stuff only lasts a couple of months before it goes dead.

Even if you get another bat order one of the M8 blades anyway. All you have to lose is $6.50 after all, and it's a really good blade. But do order today or tomorrow, next week is Chinese New Year, the whole country shuts down, if you get your order in quick you might get away with not having to wait six weeks.

Oh... you mean the Yinhe 9000 in the 2 packs? I think it's neither. The sponge is a different color, it's lighter in most of the sheets I've weighed. And to be honest I've never figured out the difference between the retail packaged 9000D and 9000E. The catalog's in Chinese, but the ratings are the same, as far as I can tell, the blurbs are the same (I can't read Chinese but I can compare two bits of Chinese text to see if they're the same or not.. ). I haven't tried writing to Yinhe to ask, though.

My guess is the 2-for-1 rubber is left over from Yinhe's premade bat making operation. As for stars or series .. I have absolutely no idea. 9000 is advertised as a slower rubber - it might be slightly slower than, say, Big Dipper or Mars, but it's not by much and I like it.
