Properties of the GLOBE Mo Wang II

Image

Size 164 x 160 mm Weight with 0.6 mm spong 31 grams
Pips-Structure vertical Pips-Top finely structured
Pips-Length 1,6 mm Pips-Width 1,8 mm Aspect Ratio 0.89
Basesheet 0,25 mm Thickness overall 1,85 Pips-Distance 1,2 mm
Pips-Springiness hard Grip very grippy

Short tests with the thin sponged version (0.6 mm) at the ball machine

That's really a great rubber with an outstanding control. With increasing distance, the pimples are a little more efficient and reached its peak somewhere between OFF and DEF distance. Both passive and active strokes are less sensitive to the incoming spin and there is the control is excellent. If there is a pips-rubber, which is (almost) perfectly matched for an allround system, then there is the Globe Mon Wang II. The surface is easy to master and produces no ultimate disturbing effects. Nevertheless, the reversal on defense strokes is good and the active strokes produce less rotation.

DIS-distance (91)
The lifts works excellent, the balls have a good length and we can vary the pace perfectly. The backspin-block with a nearly vertical sheet works well so far. Only the flat throw and the almost excessive speed are not quite ideal for this technique.

BLOCK-distance (92)
The block and counter is super safe, the throw is flat and with a moderately fast pace. The control is very good and the stroke isn't much dangerous. Security before risk is going on here. The sidewiper works quite well and it is very variable speed possible. The impact is slower than the block and so placements are going better.

OFF-distance (93)
The coating will behave the same as in the block-distance, only the control and danger is a little better, because we can more accelerate the strokes.

DEF-distance (93)
The late topspin is very safe, but not super dangerous. Topspin of pushes works very simply, as long as the blade is held vertically. The speed surprised and it can be very dangerous for your opponent. The long defense is very solid and the reversal is good. Again, safety comes first. Combined with the less-spin defense stroke over the table are great variations possible.

Conclusion (92)
The GLOBE Mo Wang II is probably the on and only Allround-LP and there is absolutely nothing to add on. The rubber with 0.6 mm spong match with a softer blade an about ALL+ to OFF- speed. For those who likes Chinese long pimples rubbers and play an allround game, they should give the Mo Wang II definitely a try. Thîs covering is also highly recommended by Globe.

Thanks martinspin!

From your picture, the sheet looks of very high quality... the shapes look very sharp, shiny and clean. Is it really like that?

I love this rubber and the shiny glance of the basesheet. It's really an outstanding production of Globe.

Prior to this evening, I had only hit with the Mo Wang 11 for a couple of hours on an allaround + blade...Donic Cayman. I really enjoyed the control. Just wish for some better disruptive effect. Tonight, I brought out one of my Joola R*1 blades that I have not used for about a year. With some minor changes I was able to maintain the control I had with the Cayman..I was surprised to say the least...everything seemed to go right where I wanted it to..Hmm. I guess I will work with the 11 some more. I will also want to revisit the Mo Wang 1 which I basically gave up on after about 15 minutes on my Yasaka Maxwood.

@gdogg1

Thanks for your input about the blades. The very grippy surface of the II allows to play with fast blades. I would prefer faster blades without synthetic material. Joola off-woods are a good choice.

I suspect not many have tried it... Globe does not seem very popular anymore, at least not outside China.

Thanks Nathanso.... I was going-by, just Martin's review of the rubber (with .6mm sponge), and he really liked it.. Made me wonder, why no one else is using it ...

Anyway, did you ever get down to trying it with a sponge ?
