I got myself a sheet of Yung 63-9A (reverse conical lp) recently and that got me researching illegal lp.
What other types of currently illegal lp are there?

I'm hoping to get some answers from old-timers who played with currently illegal pips and share their experiences.

Just take care you don't enter the event where Egils Puriņš is on duty. He is an International Umpire with a "stony heart" and a friend of mine.

Those old farts do enjoy trashy stuff a lot. The youger ones do prefer worthful materials.

Hee hee hee.. you managed to trigger Igor. His pet peeve is illegal pips.. he even keeps claiming that perfectly legal stuff is illegal. Don't ever attend his tournaments, or play against him.. he will look at your racket and claim it's illegal. Maybe people even bring illegal bats intentionally to set him off.

In any case the Yung mushroom pips was a bit of a disappointment.. it plays much like short pips as far as I could tell. Eacheng sells other obsolete rubbers, including a couple of Hallmark sheets. But they probably have not been treated with epoxy on the tips yet so are probably not frictionless. The mother of all illegal rubbers currently on sale would probably be the expanded 388D-1 that ttnpp sells.

Exactly. No SWAT team is going to show up at your club when someone brings out an "illegal" rubber. I suppose you could also play with two black rubbers, who cares about that pesky ITTF and their rules...

I know that no SWAT is gonna break down my door xD and I do ignore some ITTF rules. I’m looking for those pips that ITTF wanted to exterminate or “they just don’t make them as they used to”
