Hey Guys,

So me and my training partner use a DHS D40+ 3 Star ball for our matches and we play fairly aggressive games.

My question - after how many hours of playing should we change the ball and get a new one? The ball doesn't break but when it gets old it becomes scruffy with scratches and we feel that if we continue with the old one then it hinders the game development.

Thanks

I typically replace them when they get shiny or start showing up “stress fractures”.

For me, when it's cracked...then it is time to change with an uncracked one.

With DHS D40+s I've noticed that the ball turns sort of yellow'ish, and glossy, accompanied by progressive loss of bounce...

Thanks for the replies guys!

The DHS 40+ white becomes yellow when old and has scratches on the surface.

I think I will just replace then every one month if not straight up three weeks.

I can't say I get the scratches part. I don't think I've ever seen a "scratched" ball before. My experience is the opposite - like someone else said - the older the ball the smoother and less grippy its surface becomes.

Hey, as in one month is too long or too short?

My racket cover has pocket for 3 balls: the oldest for before tournament warm-up, one against weak players, and the freshest against the higher rated players. Unless the ball is lost or cracked the demotion and the new ball introduction happens once in about 3-4 weeks. Visually it happens when the oldest and the second best ball's (the most used) logo start to look similar light.
