i play 700-1000 pts higher than my official rating so the gap is not as much as one would be led to believe..

one of my immediate table tennis goals to be reached is to beat Dan in a tournament.

Ha, how does that work then, If you 'play' to that standard (and you have plenty of action looking at yr record) how come you are not there? are you always on an off day? or are you just another of the 1000's of 'wannabee's' who constantly tell people that they should be ranked higher, we've seem it all before mate I've played Dave Gatiss many times and I've yet to lose, there again he's always been ranked about 150 places below, I know what you mean about self destruct though

LOL I'm quite the oppostie , I'm a pretty bad/average player, who just play in the higher divisions.

On normal days, any newb can beat me, but during tourny's and comp's it's different

...but yeah I heard a lot of B.S, were lower grade players think there are same level as top player since they practise regularly with them or take a few games with them. From were I stand I see the higher graded player not playing his game "not into it." or just mucking around.

i think we're all "wannabees" in a sense. most people i play with are all wanna-be better players...yourself included. the fact that i play at the level of 2100+ doesn't mean anything to me... What *does* mean something to me is beating guys that have beaten me for years... like dan poh and a handful of other guys.

yes speedplay he dominates in north america.

jj was gracious enough to stop by our club a few yrs back to put on a table tennis demonstration. a fun and exciting time was had by all.

one of the things i realized when i saw jj play was that he could probably beat most players playing blindfolded, with his left hand and with one foot in a bucket.

2 time world champs are funny that way

Yr not by any means the only guy around here who has played with and against top chinese players. Chen Xin Hua lived and played in England for a while. The only reason you have a 'holier than thou' approach to JJ is probably because he's the only w/class player you have had on the other end of the table.

anything done with an incorrect attitude is a waste of time..

rest assured that jj and myself would both leave every single practice a better person for having practiced against one another with the right attitude.

table tennis aside, his english and my cantonese would improve and that alone would make it a worthwhile endeavor

thanks for stating the obvious. it's called "sharing".

feel free to share some of your moments with some of the players you've played with....i for one would be interested in how your game improved as a result of having played just about anybody

Aside from having a friendly tap about against a past it world champ, i've had the honour to 'learn' much from the many international players I've had the other end of the table in real matchplay, both in tournaments and league play. Its hard to share so many years experience unless you are more specific, ask away......

sure...who was the former world champ you had a 'tap about' with?

how hard was he trying..how hard were you trying and how did your game improve, if at all, after having hit with him?
