I've finally attached my sheet of Transcend SP I recently got and have been itching to try, to my Hurricane king blade. I've only had a few hits with it against the training board so far. I'll change the thread title when I have a proper hit with it, maybe tomorrow with Monkey.

First impression is good though. I'm close to thinking wow, but I have to reserve that until I see it in full action. It is VERY spinny though and quite fast. Faster than Focus II I think by quite a bit. Spin just seems superlative with it though. Brush looping with a really power exaggerated action produces something that just whips off the table. A drive loop similarly crashes down on the table and its gone. The HK is a blade that certainly lets you know when it considers a rubber to be beneath its status in the speed stakes. It will just feel so slow on it, like Venus did. SP does not feel slow on the HK though, it seems to have its full respect.

The SP sheet has a very nice sheen to the topsheet. I have this one in 2.2 and its nice to feel the raw grunt of feeling the big sponge under the hood again like returning to a big V8 from a high tune Jap machine. I have a feeling this one will be rivalling the Tenergy for attention. Its not something I usually find with 729 rubbers, as none of them have yet given me quite this initial feeling. In fact I can't remember a single Chinese rubber that has, but my memory may be failing lol.

Spin on the serves at this point is looking massive. A few I sent down at the training board barely had time to touch the rubbers on the board before they pinged away at a great pace.

I have my new sheet of 755-2 on the other side of the HK, but that's another story which I will review in the LP section in turn.

What colour is it?

I had a bit of a go with Red Transcend SP but it's lack of tackiness really made it an average rubber and got rid of it's great properties which are probably present in a black sheet.

I've also found that I don't have a fast enough blade to fit these type of rubbers. I play around 50-50 speed and spin as I've found the high throw of spinny rubbers awful if you get into a rally (i know it's now meant to be for rallies) and also bad when you meet the well known SP hitters or someone who playes in the dark or even strong counter loopers.

I would rather prefer to play a game with more speed to enable to get a semi-high ball and then BOOM!

If it's the black, is it really the tackiest rubber you've ever seen?

A teammate had the black and that was very tacky, though very hard sponge sheet of rubber with an extra hard blue Chinese sponge.

You could serve and push very well with it and if you swung fast enough the balls moved very fast.

I just played with it for the first time yesterday (Red). I found it only mildly tacky (though the same for the Aces and Geospin Tacky I have sitting around here as well - they are all disappointing). Most surprising was that it feels quite soft, topsheet and I almost want to say even the sponge. Somewhat lively, feels high throw to me (or at least when countering..), but at the same time it feels soft enough to swallow the ball up and give you time to do whatever you want against the right balls - unexpectedly nice for lobbing.. Nice control overall. Not sure what to make of it yet, one word summary would probably be dynamic/lively. One note: In some post from way back Juan KC said he bought this rubber from two different places and it was like they were completely different, one soft and one more traditional Chinese. I must have got the soft one...?

The softer (and less tacky) one came from a forum member in the USA who bought it from Australia. The harder ones came direct from China. I have had sponges labeled 46 and 43 degree from China and both were considerably harder than the other one. Both rubbers were very nice in their different ways, but the softer one really needed gluing to get the best out of it.

While we are on the subject of SP, has anyone else tried both Transcend SP and Galaxy Jupiter and compared the two?

I use Transcend Sp as my Fh rubber, red definitely not as tacky as black. All mine are in cream color sponge. I noticed inside the package they have a number sticker on it ranging from 1 - 12? And the quality from 1 being best to two digit ones being worse.. cause higher number ones tends to dull very quickly and maybe less spin...at least that what I have noticed. Does anyone else have similar findings?

After trying Mark V XS, 30 degree, Higher III, H2, H2 No.19, I still prefer Transcend Sp as my FH rubber, is not real fast away but with fast blade is ok.

Sorry should have said, my sponge is cream also and I have the black SP. MsZaku, thats very interesting what you said about the numbers. I have No.2 so I guess its second best lol. It said somewhere its made the Chinese National team, so maybe they get the No. 1's lol.

I'm about to go meet Metal Monkey and Mars for a hit, so I'll be able to put it through its paces somewhat.

As expected I did have a hit with this rubber today for a bit when I was hitting with Monkey and Mars. It is the nearest thing I've tried in 729 range with the speed of a SGE rubber. Monkey will attest to the speed that some of my smashes went by him at. Certainly as fast as the Tenergy was and maybe as spinny. Didn't have quite the same feeling of control as the Tenergy, but for a rubber that's about quarter the price, its a good substitute. I did play one game against Monkey with the HK with 755-2 on the back, but I didn't feel it gave me quite the same level of control as the Enforce setup does and Monkey was able to make good advantage of this, so I changed back. Looping, smashing, serving and even some chopping with the SP transcend were all up there with just about any other rubber I've used. In fact its tacky grip probably puts it ahead of Omega II and Tango. If it had a little softer sponge it would be perfect, but of course this would probably reduce its speed, given its not a SGE rubber. If I had this as my only choice to use in comp though, I think I would get by quite happily.

Hey Reb..and members

I have just ordered a SP Transcend based on the review on the OOAKT review site where I looked for a tacky spinny rubber and then decided to see if I could find other reviews and found your recent review, so I thought I would ask about the fact that other sites say that SP Transcend needs to be speed glued to get the best out of it otherwise its a "beginners Rubber"...

Hence I am interested on folks thoughts about it being a "beginners rubber" and also the fact that they say it needs to be "speed glued"...

Problem is, Gluing is Banned..Hope I havn't made an error with the purchase..

However perhaps I should class myself as a beginner because I don't want it fast...I need control and use a very slow sponge on my current rubber which originally was LKT ProXT...however if I want to hit hard I can hit through the sponge to my OFF Blax (Andro)

Well Foss knowing 729 sponges I did give this one a little EO priming to break it in, which may be why I am finding it faster without SG than those saying it must be glued. Seeings as I have the "illegal" 755-2 on the opposite side I won't be using this in comp anyway, especially not while the Tenergy has any life left in it. I doubt its really a beginners rubber though as the tack would be way too much for a beginner to handle IMO.
