So apart from speed, what are the major differences between these two????

D.Tecs is faster, produces more spin reversal, produces better wobble balls, chops better, attacks underspin better, and is less spin sensitive. Actually it's so lively it might seem almost unplayable at first, but stick with it for a bit and you'll get more control. You'll want to move back about a meter to compensate for the speed, but, you'll get some good disruption with the Joo. Also the older the rubber gets, the slower it gets. I prefer a slower combination blade. Mathias is playing it on a faster blade.

I haven't used the Bomb nearly as much, but it's easy to use right away, has better control and is better for hitting/countering. As Dingwol2 said, it's very Insider-like.

Both are great rubbers, but in my opinion the D.Tecs produces overall more nasty balls for the opponent to deal with.

thanks sounds good. I've been talking with my coach about moving back a meter and chopping more so maybe this will be better for me than the bomb. I'll try 'em both

I've tested both quite extensively. The Bomb definitely attacks better, but is nowhere near as disruptive. The D.Tecs causes the opponent to make a lot more errors.

I played someone that was using d-tec to play quite aggresive. His hits and openers against backspin was very disruptive, and won many points outright.

I moved back off the table and the balls seemed easier to deal with, his defense was pretty bad and the chops was to high. I think the normal grass is a more stable pimple to use minus the disruption of the d-tec.

Perhaps gluing it too a slower blade would allow you to play closer.

No sponge, his blade was one of those andro balsa carbon light blades though.
He was playing a medium pip ox on the fh as well.

Strange one thing D.techs does really well is keep the ball low. Agreed D.techs is v. disruptive.

I don't know about Bomb Talent but the thin base sheet of D.techs may have something to do with its strong spin reversal.

Apologies for the hijack but I didn't want to start a new thread on this.

This is interesting. MNNB I take it you are not settled on your forehand. Shifting from Tenergy to Leopard is a HUGE shift. Got to admit I'm not really settled on BigSlam on the Medusa but I thought I'd keep it a season and then think again - possibly shift to JO Silver. I don't think I'd shift to SP though. Don't you have trouble if the opponent decides to send loads of no-spin?

I found that SP works well against players who are topspin drivers. If a player just chop and flat hit, then SP is ineffective.

This was recommended to me by a top player/coach. I'm coming back from a bad ligament tear in my ankle and currently can't do the footwork for a proper forehand. The SP is easier, although I've taken a hit on serving. I felt I was doing OK with Terergy, but I'll give this a shot for awhile. I've been using Leopard for about two weeks and am starting to feel somewhat comfortable with it.

Leopard 1.5 (used by Dr N) is great for blocking something fast, rolling back something slow and low to an awkward spot, attacking underspin and smashing. My points mainly come from causing mistakes with the D.Tecs and/or punishing pop-ups. By the way, black D.Tecs is slower than red but still very disruptive (I can play a little closer to the table). Very small variations with the wrist cause opponents problems. I'm finding attacks don't have to be fast to be effective.

SP is great against chop.

No Mathias, MNNB is not really changing for good, he shifted two weeks ago so that he can come to the "garage" to give me a lesson of how to play short pips the correct way.
